Default Questions about traction

Today my buddy and I went to the track for the first time ever. I was always under the impression that you would have more traction on the strip, but my car would not hook up at all. On the street it will hardly spin the tires on the 2nd gear shift. At the track I spun all the way through 3rd gear. Is that normal? My tires are Nitto 555 275/35 zr 20's. If it is normal, then what is a good way to launch? I realize that I need to be abit lighter on the gas, but what else?

I had a blast and will probably be going back again next friday so any help is appreciated.

Mine is the 05, his is the 10.

Its normal man. I spin like a **** on the track too, but hardly at all on the street. You need DRs or slicks to really hook on the track.

A lot of it is track prep too. If your tires pick up debris and crap from other people doing burnouts, you can carry that a long way down the track.

Try swapping out the 555s for the 555Rs; that's what I use and they hook fairly well when they get hot (although I still spin them sometimes).

Times were horrible and I am almost embarrassed to post them, but it was my first time so what the hell.

Best times:
Reaction: .62
60': 2.47
1/8th ET: 9.89
1/8th MPH: 74.7

Weather was over 100 and clear. Quite a few other cars and probably 70% running stock tires.

And few extra pics of the 10.

well that 60' is pretty bad man... gotta work on that...

100* and sunny makes for very high track temps and that makes for a slick and slippery track.
