And yeah the r/t's are dogs from the factory but with work can be quick. And by work I mean at least headers, heads, intake mani, ect., ect. lol
They're like the Gen. 1 Lightnings; fun trucks, yet kinda slow. Modded ones on the other hand... H/C/I them like everyother SBF/SBC and let it roll lol

Yeah for sure ^

And one of the main reasons the r/t is slow so is because of the transmission. The 46re put in those is HORENDOUS. It soaks up 25% of the power. Most dyno below 200 to the wheels. If they put a 5 speed in them, they would be a quick little truck with a little work. But the that transmission is horrible.

Mine wouldn't even do a brake assisted burnout. I finally put a CAI on it and believe it or not, for about 1 hour it suddenly would spin the tires just from stomping it. After that 1 glorious hour, it went back to being a dawg. After doing some checking around, I found out that the PCM on them would compensate and screw you out of any gains you may achieve thru mods. I met a guy at the track with one, except he had an M1 intake, CAI, headers, DRs, and maybe some other stuff, but no tune. He was running a 15.0. You have to tune those R/Ts along with the mods from what I've seen. Good run, OP.
That is why many people swap out the stock PCM for a Mopar Performance one...

I am pretty sure Dodge still offered 318/5spd combos at the same time they made the R/T. If that tranny was stout enough, and had some decent ratios, you could have a nice alternate to the R/T.

Haha yes, though are nasty... but I think a 318/5spd would cost about as much as it would to insure the SRT for a year lol...

just going by what I personally saw at the track... not sure if that is the norm for them though

They are limited by traction. Without DRs and control arms, its hard to do much with them.

^ I can imagine a 525 ft/lbs.truck spinning 4.56 gears being a handful. Traction bars would be nice, for sure.
