New Camaros are slow...
I respected the new camaros much more when I heard about the power they boasted but I raced one today at the stop light to about 85-90 mph and pulled away from it in 1st gear. Granted I have drag radials and a performance transmission, I still expected the SS with 426 (or even 400 if it was an automatic) horsepower to be more of a challenge. I don't know how far away I was because there's no way to tell off the track and I don't know my 1/4 mile time since i upped my boost (and went with the focus fuel pump) but my old time at 7 lbs. was 13.25 and now it's at 10 lbs. and a measly 330 rwhp. I think the LS1 camaros are better than the new ones. But I'll say I've lost some respect for the camaro... Don't feed into all the hype that surrounds the camaro.

Geez I'd hope a blown 2v could run with a new Camaro. You must have run on an awfully conservative dyno to only see 330rwhp on 10lbs of boost. Also the L99's(auto) have been a big disappointment, they have been dyno'n at 330-340rwhp and trapping at 106-107mph max.

I don't really like the new Camaro, but I'm also not so biased as that I degrade a car solely because I happen to dislike it.
For right around *sometimes under* 30K dollars, you can have a high 12 second (for now, until more passes get made) with a full factory warranty.
That's just as, if not quicker, than the record stock LS1 passes. The motor has MORE capabilities as far as performance once modding begins. Look at LS3 numbers in Corvettes, that's scary ss****.
However, I suppose if you're surprised that a blown 2v GT with a set of DR's and a stall beat a stock '10 SS, then you're not likely to understand that logic above either.

A blown 2v beats a stock '10 Camaro SS, and that means the SS is slow? I honestly don't think they're slow. A local guy set the bone stock record not long ago, at my local track. He hit 12.87 in ~1000' DA. Give it some more time, when we get down to around 0' DA, and even in the negatives, and it should run mid 12's. For a bone stock car, in its price range, that's hauling ***. Should make quick work of an LS1. With equal drivers, I'd say the new Camaro has a definate edge on the older LS1's, which it should anyways. No use in making a newer model slower than the last.

i didn't but his bumper wasn't close to mine so it wasn't like .10 or .20 of a second maybe closer to .5 which is why i think it was a manual over an auto or maybe a slightly modded auto.
that and the saleen SC's just aren't that powerful when compared to the KB or Vortech. On a stock manual they dyno only at about 300 rwhp. i have an auto but if it were a manual it would be closer to 350 rwhp for me. I don't feed into power ratings too much, i just care how fast i get down the track and i've beaten cars with way higher power ratings probably due to upgrading my tranny and tires.
