Default Keeping up with a C6?

So I left my house headed over to a friends place cause they were doing some transmission work and I had nothing to do so I decided to roll through. I stopped by the gas station first and right when I pulled in a yellow C6 (with T-tops?) with some kind of exhaust just pulled in to get gas as well.

I pulled out of the gas station shorty right after he did and we were both waiting on a red light to go straight onto the freeway. I really wasn't expecting much of anything but when the light turned green, he gunned it and I thought what the heck and gunned it too. I was expecting him to smoke me but I noticed that I was keeping up with him.

We probably went all the way to about 70mph or so and then slowed down before actually getting on the freeawy (luckily cause the freeway ramp goes down a bit and right on the shoulder there was a CHP which pulled someone over and on the fast lane there a was a cop just going past as well). Everything happened kinda fast but he probably only had a nose on me.

He then gave me the thumbs up and we split ways. Now i'm starting to wonder is it at all possible for a slow *** car like mine (with mods in the sig, 17X9 275 Nitto DR's) to keep up with that Corvette or did he have to be toying with me for sure?

I've dyno'd 261.04rwhp/299.91rwtq

was he spinning? was he shifting slow? he must've been a bad driver or toying, thats the only way I could see you keeping up with him. Either way good job, anything can happen on the street.

he was not racing all out...... a C6 with a LS3 is a high 11s - very low 12s car

LS2 is a tad slower... either would be more then a match for you

While it's obvious the C6 is faster, we all know anything can happen on the street.

I know it's "possible" for a car with significantly less power to give a more powerful car a run in a short distance, if that car has better traction, gearing, driver mod, etc.

Depends on what it was. If it was an LS3 C6, then chances are he was running 3/4 throttle, give or take. If it was an LS2 C6, then it wouldn't take as much as you think to "keep up". The last thing an LS2 C6 is worried about is traction. I have driven them and raced against the LS2 C6 and although they are plenty quick, they're no LS3 by a long shot, not stock anyways. My coworker has an LS2 C6 automatic, and he still hasn't been able to come around me to date. His best ET so far is an 8.8 second 1/8th (driver mod?). We haven't run further than a 1/4 mile side by side yet, but from a dig to 110 mph or so, he stays on my back bumper. Keep in mind, he is bone stock and automatic. Any mods, especially a tune, and he WILL come around, period. Anyway, good run OP. I can see you staying close (within 1-3 lengths) to an LS2 up to 70 mph with your mods.

If you went from a light I could see you outlaunching another driver but the Corvette has killer trap speed and would catch you before you hit 70 unless you ran into a retard that thinks spinning tires is just cool.

Sounds like he was just enjoying his car.

Thats a stout GT in your sig, though. How do you like your shifter?

The LS2 C6 has a ridiculous torque management program which really slows the car down in the early going. After 70-80mph, it will wake up and finally catch stride. The LS3 is nasty off the line and l doesn't really slow down till about 165mph..
