Fun with a Firehawk...
Well this week me and my dad are putting our cars up for the winter, and I took out the T/A for its final weekend.
A buddy of mine has a black 2000 firehawk with LS6 motor (heads etc), Fast intake, MS4 cam, full ehaust, gears (4.10), and a few suspension mods. My T/A's mods are in my sig, and im running Kumho all season tires (hook surprisingly well from a roll). Well He wanted to run em last night and he's on nitto 555's and can't ever really get traction, and since i can't drive the car as well we figured it'd be a good race.
Well we went to a local race spot and did two 25 roll races.
The first race he spun bad and almost hit me, but i missed 3rd so he pulled on me and he had about 3 cars on me by about 115.
The second race he spun thru 3rd, and i hooked, i didn't miss a gear and had about a car by 120. It was really fun to drive a car that fast, and actually put it through the paces.
Just a lil fun

Even the Nitto dr's aren't all that. I ran them for 20k miles. They're "ok" when new, less so when worn and totally dangerous when completely bald. I almost totaled my car in the rain with them. I now have 555's which suck but probably last 50k miles and won't kill me in the wet.
I should've waited for nt05's but you cannot purchase them locally w/o a long wait. Even the INVO's have a softer rubber than the 555's.
I've been experimenting with different LCA angles but in the end you need a softer rubber for max traction. No getting around it.

Yea he can't hook at all...but you have to remember it was probably 40 degrees with no heat up of the tires. But i think he's layin down probably 430-450 hp he hasn't had it on a good dyno yet.
But i did a lot better then i thought i would...my dad's lookin for heads and an intake next summer...he's got the mod bug BAD!
But my buddy has never had good luck with his Nitto DRs or 555's...its wierd even at the dragstrip.
