Anybody can put the car down the track, not everybody is going to finish in the top 5 in an autocross everytime.
I didn't read most of this crap, but I did notice this. Most people that say that just haven't driven a car that's fast enough yet.

Come drive my car down the track one time and see how "easy" it is. I'd honestly be surprised if 95% of this site could just take off in my car w/o stalling it or blowing the tires off. Then if they could actually up shift it AND downshift it w/o grinding the gears to oblivion, I'd probably **** my pants. In other words, it's NOT easy to drive fast cars the way they're supposed to be driven.

I'm not taking a shot at you James, just that I hate when, mainly import guys, say that. What is that old quote, "if driving fast in a straight line is easy, you're not making enough power." Or something to that effect.

I'll spin that Fire Chicken down the track for ya I bet I won't even grind the gears either, but then again I know what kind of trans you have in that thing

Well Derek, that's because you know how the car is set up and you drive it (at least) almost daily. I don't. If I had your car and drove it nearly daily, I know I wouldn't spin it either.

Pointing a car down the track and keeping it that way is hard, I don't deny that, but most of us don't have 4 second funny cars either.

Finding the right spot to do a nose dive and get it into the correct gear before a sharp S turn takes skill. When do you blip the throttle? when do you mash the throttle? when to brake? These are all things you have to take into account to keep the car on the intended path.

Sure going fast straight can be hard to do if you're not used to the setup, but in essence it's the same as comparing driving a funny car vs driving a rally car on the side of a mountain with 6' wide roads between you and a 1000 foot drop into oblivion.

Why do everyone go up in flames when the turning debate starts?

I mean, out of all the professional racing organizations in the world, NHRA is the ONLY one that races without a turn, and also the ONLY one that accelerates just once. All other races, there are twists and turns, and you must decelerate and accelerate repeatedly.

Notice I don't mention stoplight racing, 'cause that's just stupid.

Anyway, I just think the more dimensions you have, the more fun it is. Track racing gives you 2 degrees of movement, dragracing gives you one, an F18 gives you three...
