Has anyone else here have to spot cars when they go racing or am i the only one? I hear all of these stories on how you spanked this and that or how you get spanked from a light.. i also hear about ricers running their mouth... where i am from, northern suburbs of chicago, ricers always want me to spot them because they have 'just' a 4 cyclinder.. and i have never heard of anyone else talking about spots on this forum.... is it just around here???

 

down here too in okc we had some guys always wanting spots for a race. its like a bad episode of pinks.

Yes it is very common, but we are from the same area. For those that don't understand it's because the two cars that want to race are not very evenly matched and the faster car gives up some land to make it more fair, or there is a person who is trying to hustle, that happens alot also.

What happens if you get beat by a guy you spotted 5 car lengths? He gets to brag about beating you with a head start? I'd just go look to run someone that is more evenly matched with me. How much satisfaction can you get out of beating someone if they gave you a head start? None, in my book.

I agree, but somtimes you gotta race the people who are willing to race. Alot of times when we go out peoples nut shrivle into little tiny raisins, or because there is usually money involved they want a for sure win. Here is a good example, I'll use my car and your car as an example. We decide our cars are pretty even as far as HP/mods go, the only thing is that you have a drag radial and I do not, now to make this race alittle more fair I am going to ask for a spot (or the hit), the theory is that this way we can have a somwhat fair race even though our cars sit a bit different. Is this the most ideal way to have a drag race? No way and I will never claim it to be, but the chances of two cars being set up close enough for a heads up, when there is money involved is very rare.

 

See tommy gets it, it's all about the gamble for some people. It's kinda the same thing as when you go to Vegas and get odds on a bet.
