when you are racing with a 5sp wut rpm's do you usually go before u switch gears? someone told me to redline it but i wasnt sure if thats the best way

depends wut type of car you have... you usally wanna shift a little over the powerband so you land right on it when shifting into the next gear. It would help if you got your car dynod And then you can tell from there. I usally shift at around 4800 when racing cause my NoN-PI heads suck.

Some don't.

Take mine. Peak power is 7600 rpm, redline is 8000 rpm. That extra 400 rpm is my power curve actually falling. You're actually slowing down slightly if you're still going after peak power. I bought a shift light with a 7600 pill which I will eventually install under the dash to where I can see it out of the corner of my eye.

accuracy + light + good shift point = best times

i don't shift at redline, i shift a little before. about 5000 - 5200, which is when i stop making power.

my car has a redline of 6750, fuel shutoff @ 7000. i shift at 5700 where the powerband levels and starts to drop.

Thats definatly true but most stock cars(minor mods) that havent been dynoyed your just better off shifting at redline.Oviously you can shift anywere.Peolpe who race no whats best for there car but in any old situation I would shift at redline.Keeping the car in its power range will oviously make it fastest that way

I shift at about 5100 rpms. My Non PI heads and intake run out of air pretty good after that.
