Default First Auto X experience!

DUUUUUUUUDE. AutoX is AWESOME. I could have done it all day.

The gf got 4.5 solid vids of me driving. A few pics as well at the end when tape/battery ran out. Uploading pics/vids as we speak.

I was told the track was a fast track, but I thought it was kind of in the middle. two pretty long slaloms, the second with a tight section at the end of it, two pretty big sweeper turns, and then some tight 90's. A couple other turns were involved but you will see on the vids tomorrow.

The first run I was hesitant and getting comfortable with using the cones to guide me around the track. I went off course once on the first lap.
My time - DNF (81.978)
Best time on the track (non Go-cart/racecar) - 58.something

Gained confidence, still a little unsteady on my memory of the track, hit one cone on a tight slalom. Still trying to find the limit of the car.
My time - 78.316 and one cone

Confident with the track layout in my head, started to push it but still timid of finding the limits. Hit one cone again.
My time - 74.871

Last official time I really started to get into it but STILL wasn't pushing the car to what it could do.
My time - 73.698

They then allowed some fun runs at a $1 a run for about 4 or 5 runs. I did two and before we started I said to myself I was going to give it hell. Sure did.
1st fun run - 72.65.....(one cone)
2nd fun run - 71.4......

I can't explain how much fun this was. The incredible part is that the fastest speed average was probably about 50 mph. The rockets on the course probably hit about 60 but most cars were around 50. I think every teenager should be required to do this to get an idea of just how fast 40 and 50 mph is. In a straight line and on the road 50 feels like nothing. Get somewhere with turns and get that car twisting and it's a WHOLE other story.

Can't wait to do this again.

If you got out of second gear more than once it was a fast track. Last time I did it I spent almost the entire ride in 1st gear. Lotta fun no doubt.

Yup, never got out of second. got high in the rpm's in second but never got out or bounced off the limiter.

It was blast though. Was in the power band just about the entire time....

that looked like a Miata course.

a little word of advice, spend as little time shifting as possible. meaning if you can get into 2nd gear, don't try to downshift back down into 1st. use the torque that you have and roll out of the corners.

1.5, thanks for the advice! I never did shift on the course, and I would NEVER shift into first, even on the street. I will put that to memory though for the future.

Looks like you had a great time and that looks like a fantastic setting to do it in.
