Default Ran a WS6 a little bit ago

On the way home tonight, I spotted a white LS1 WS6 (98-00 judging by the wheels). So, I decided to whip the car around and see if he wanted to play, just so I could meet a fellow T/A owner in the area, since they're few and far between. We got out on the highway, and were just screwing around going back and forth. I had it in 3rd around 65mph goosing it a little, and he threw a couple revs and got on it. So, taking the hit, he got about a car on me. I hit it and instantly closed the gap, and put a couple cars on him before the redline. Hit 4th and stayed in it for a few seconds, but I think he may have let off once he saw that I got by him so easily, and the couple cars turned into buslengths. Took the next exit and he followed, so I pulled off to the side of the ramp, and let him get next to me to talk for a few. Didn't have a chance to ask him his mods. But, he asked what I had in my car, because it ran so strong. So, I gave him a few basic details of it and told him that it still needed to be dynotuned, when he asked me what I was putting down at the wheels. He was a pretty cool guy, and said he would've played more, but didn't want to with his girl in the car, and I can understand that. I know he had atleast exhaust, but probably nothing more than a few minor bolt-ons. He's from the next small town over though, so I'll probably see him around quite a bit and find out more. I'm not surprised by the outcome, but it was nice to get the first race out of the way with the new motor. I'm kind of surprised I pulled so well, since I could've dropped it into 2nd gear from the start. And my rev limiter is set too low, at 6700, so I was shifting at 6500, even though this cam will probably need to see ~7000-7200rpm shifts.

Very nice. Glad to see the car is running like it should. Looks great as well. Makes me miss my old '98.

It still has a few small cam surge issues with driveability, but it's definately strong at WOT. I think it's getting dynotuned on the 15th of June, to see how she'll do, once it's finally dialed in, and at its full potential. I wish I could do it sooner, but Speed Inc is backed up so far on tuning right now, and Larry said that's the soonest he could get me in. Car looks slightly different than the pic in my sig now. I got different wheels because I didn't want to pay the ~$600 to replace the 335 Nitto DR's on the rear that were about gone. So, I traded them for some hyperblack Ruff Racing 278's. Surprisingly it still hooks on the cheap 275 Nankang street tires on the rear too. Not bad for tires that are about $85 a piece. lol

haha. Good thinkin. I need a ram air hood. I'm just trying to decide if I want to get a WS6 or Firehawk/Raptor hood.

Those wheels look good on that car, what does the raptor hood look like?

I agree, car looks good man. Sounds like you've got a strong TA too. It ought to put a grin on your face once its tuned. I'm really curious what it'll lay down.

Well, the car sure wasn't running good tonight. I ran my buddy's 2000 Camaro SS twice on the highway, because we were heading over to the next town over to grab something to eat.

His mods: LT's, catted Y, Loudmouth 2, lid, and a tune

1st race: ~70mph roll. Both in 3rd gear. I gave him the hit and couldn't get by him. He got a half car on the jump, and I started to come back on him, then hit fourth and it fell on its face. He slowly pulled all the way through 4th, and I was at his back bumper when he missed 5th at ~130mph.

2nd race: Another high roll from 3rd. Both hit it at the same time and I jumped out to a half car on him and held it, maybe pulled a tad. Hit 4th and he started his slow pull again. Even by the top of 4th. I hit 5th and he kept pulling. Shut down ~150mph with him about a car and a half ahead.

I think I know what the problems are though. Yesterday, the car was throwing 3 codes. A TPS code, Mass air volume low input, and Mas air volume high input. I reset the TPS and cleared all the codes, and they didn't come back right away, but they may have again sometime lastnight or earlier tonight. So, I'm guessing my MAF took a sh*t on me, and I probably still don't have the throttle blade set right. Also, I was thinking maybe I need better gears for the cam, and the fact that the car runs retarded rich on this tune is probably costing me a ton of power anyways. Either way, it was a HUGE disappointment to get beat by a bolt-on LS1 after the motor swap and all. I'll have to go get the car scanned again tomorrow and see if those codes did end up coming back again. Then, I guess I'll be buying a new MAF. Oh well, might give me a reason to buy a FTP 104mm lid and 100mm MAF. Although, that might end up setting back the date of the dynotune then.
