adding higher octane fuel without a tune does nothing.

good times though!

True. Its better to run what the car is tuned for. 87 octane isn't better or worse, it just doesn't resist knock as well when timing is added.

Very good run, Lost! That's damn impressive for a stock V6. I bet with a good 93 tune, you ought to be close to some mid 13s. Nice 60' too btw.

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I meant I was using 93 octane fuel in my car, don't have a tune yet.

Last year I took my car to the track about 5 times, and I used 93 octane on 4 of those 5 nights. On the other night I used 87 octane and had by far my slowest runs, I was getting 14.6-14.8 at 95-96 mph. It wasn't even hot that night either. So last night I was just sticking to what worked best for me from personal experience.

But any day now, I will have my SCT tuner. I thought I would have it in time for test-and-tune, so earlier in the week I put 93 octane in the car in anticipation. American Muscle e-mailed me and informed me that I sent them the wrong computer code, hence the delay in getting the tuner in time for last night. It will be loaded with 3 BAMA tunes; 87 street, 93 performance, and 93 race. I should certainly have it in time for next Thursday's test-and-tune.

well if your getting the tune that soon then I understand putting the higher octane in now. that way it can mix with your old gas, run that out, then fill it up when your about to upload the tune.

I agree, make sure you have as close to 100% 93 octane in your tank when you run the race tune. I'm not sure how aggressive their race tune is, but I'd imagine its running enough timing to cause knock/detonation/ping if some 87 were to run through, especially above 4k rpm. I'm not sure why you're car ran better on 93, but hey man, it did that night, so who cares, lol. I'm really anxious to see how much it picks up with the different tunes. I personally think you'll see a half second gain on the race tune, especially since you are capable of pulling a good 60'.
