Default 99GT vs 99? Firebird

This was my first race exactly one week after the purchase of the Stang.

I too had just left Dukes of Hazzard(Jessica has a nice rack), when this 99 Formula Firebird (i guess), went flyin by me in the parking lot.
His car was poppin as he drove and little blue flames kept poppin in his tailpipes. What does that mean?

Anyways he was at the light before I was so as he was pulling away as I ran up next to him and rev'd.
We took off from about 25mph and hung together pretty well.
I was pretty proud of my shifting having only driven a manual for one week.
We got stopped at a light together and took off again. This time I spun pretty hard (I'll try 2nd next time), but i caught back up.
It was head to head again(80mph), and I pulled out front for a while.
We were in town now so I backed off and turned to go home.

You must realize I have never driven anything but a pickup all my life, let alone a 5spd GT! I had no idea the adrenaline rush you get.
It was a fun night.

(For any GM antagonists out there, yes, it probably was a v6 with a little kid driving on his dads lap.)

How do you know it was a 99? Did it have a round front bumper or a point front bumper? Chances are it was a 93-97 TA.

I don't know honestly.
Probably was a 93-97 now that you mention it.
The headlights were flat with the body, not bubbled up.

Thanks.

Yes I did.
Starting off in second doesn't work?
I figured since I am in 1st for a short time anyways I should try to start in 2nd.
It would spin less too right? I dunno. If you don't think it will work I wont try it.

Thanks.

Probably the reason he had blue flames comin out was he did some exhaust work. But didn't know what the **** he was doing. So there are leaks, I have seen this happen pretty often.

No I think there is some kit out there to make flames shoot out your exhaust. I seen one on pimpin my ride a few months back. That show it pretty silly. They put major money in everything but the engine. Oh and I dont recommend starting out in second you make even get takin by a stock dump truck if you do that and flames comin out of an exhaust is ricey if you ask me

Maybe he was catless and running rich? I know WRX/STi shoot huge flames when the afterfire because of running no cats.
