3.7 and a TA GTA
It was an anniversary model Trans Am that had the Buick tv V6.
you're thinking of the TTA. 1550 produced, almost all were pace cars. they were detuned to 250bhp because GM knew that they would haul off and rape the Vette like it was nothing at the power levels they ran in the GN.
Here's a little thing on the 20th Anniversary Trans Ams with the Buick GN motor, with acceleration numbers. I'd love to have one of those.

Here's some various Trans Am GTA times, I guess there was a TTA GTA with the turbo V6. The GTA I went up against tody certainly wasn't one of those.

I do have some negative news to report though. I just made an egg sandwich. I buttered two pieces of bread on both sides, cut the middles out, and put the slices of bread into the frying pan on the stove. Then I cracked 2 eggs and dropped them into the holes in the bread. As I did this, I grilled a big boneless chicken breast. After all the cooking was done, I made a big-*** sandwich out of all those components. Oh man, it was good, but too hot to handle. So I went back to the kitchen to get a fork and knife.
This is the horrible part, those that are feint of heart may want to stop reading........................................... .................................................. ...................................I came back with the fork and knife, and I was shocked to see my sandwich (on a paper plate) was on the floor and my ****tard dog Rusty ate ALL of the chicken and just about everything else in just a few seconds...............the horror....................I can't go on...................

They were only made for one year in '89 and were the 20th Anny Turbo Trans Am not a GTA. Faster than the 'Vette and damn near anything on the road at the time.
*SORRY* didn't notice this info was already posted. My bad...

Yeah I can remember a buddy of mine raced one in his 90 Iroc Z. Lets just say in that race V6-1, V8-0. Like someone said it's a reason why GM tuned those cars down (would have killed corvette sales). They were most def vette killers and sad to say mustang killers back in the day...
