My friends dad just bought a new Impala SS with the supercharged 3.8 V6. I have a 94 GT and he wants to race me. There are some mods on my car - 3.73s, BBK headers, off-road H pipe and flows, and a B&M short throw shifter. He is really confident that he is going to win the race but I'm not so sure. What do you think?

you sshould smoke him my buddy has a real impala ss with the 350 and it ran mid 14,s I have had many chances to drive it and it is one of the only chevys that i would own. I can say I don't know much about the new ss BUT I have seen many of the new blow "full size chevy's" monty ss and they ran mid 14's stock

 

hahahaha well your dads friend is a real idiot, your car will smoke him real bad. Those new supercharged ones only run like a 15.3

 

Thanks for the fast replies. Not to rip on the new SS, but i dont see how Chevy can call it an Impala SS. Or an Impala at all for that matter. It has a V6, with no V8 optional, and front wheel drive. Thats no Impala. The last real Impala that Chevy made, IMO, was the one that was killed in 96 that was based on the Caprice. Its one of my favorite cars.

The 96 impala my friend has "in his own words" "IS THE ONLY CAR YOU CAN SERVE A TURKEY DINER ON THE DASH" it will still smoke the sh----- out of the tires and donuts-- on a dime fun as he--

 

So what do you think a 94 GT will run? I have news for you, a 94/95 GT is a low 15 sec car. His mods give him maybe 10-15 hp at the tire, so to me this will be a drivers race, if the Stang wins it won't be by much.

 

I'm gonna be honest with you... I think he might take ya man. I raced a granprix in a 2001 gt and I barley beat him and I was runnin 13.8's... he said it was all stock, but who knows. All those cars are quick. But hey a race aint a real race unless there is a challenge. If he gets you then you have some incentive to get some more parts until you get him!!!

 

The new Impala SS has a V8. I have a July issue of Motor Trend right beside me and the Impala SS is on the cover. It says it is a 2006 model and it has a 303 HP 5.3 litre V8. It is FWD of course, but they tested it at 14.3@98. Its good for you his is not a 2006, you would probably lose.
