Why is everyone scared?
I put in my newly acuired mt et drags last night. Had them set at 15psi. I roasted them(probably longer than i need to
) I held the throttle at 4k and dropped the clutch. No problems. No beefed up drive train(unless u count 3.73) I dont get why people buy d/r if slick are better and theuy didnt tear up my car. I launched 10x probably. MY best time was 9.03@75.6mph in the 1/8. My trap was down from 79+ because of the weather. I was cutting a consistant 1.9 60(didnt seem low enough for me). I just revved hooked and went. No problems. Whats the big deal? Anybody know where a density altitude fixer thing for a 1/8 mile? I know i should have been in the 8's. Im guessing about 8.7 or better. Oh well, tell me what cha think.

Can anyone tell me what is prone to breaking? Why doesnt everyone run a full slick?

2. Most cars without big power, steep gears and a stall will bog at the start because it takes a little more to get them going.
3. They offer more rolling resistance, so the top end suffers.
4. Those that are making decent power are more likely to suffer rear end breakage. This seems to be f-body specific.
Your trap speed is down because of traction...When you spin the tires you get higher trap speeds so with traction its lower but times are better.Things that break are the gears, carrier, axles from dumping the clutch.Slicks do beat the boxes that hold your control arms but if you dont race it all the time you will be fine.Slicks have alot more walk on the top end to ,you'll notice that the car is swaying side to side at the end of the track ,it takes so getting used to.

That swaying crap scared me to death my first run. I set them at 15psi and that thing was going nuts. super fun out of the hole!

That swaying is worst with the ET Streets which it looks like you have. The ET Drags sway less and the ET Drag Radials don't sway at all.
No offense, but you're not making enough power to be scared of breaking anything. Guys that are scared of a real tire (which I don't consider the ET Street to be) are generally making enough power that they could break something with enough traction. Seriously...1.9 short times just are not fast enough to worry about breaking something.
