Default WRX loss..

I took my supercharger out for the season (winter coming, vortech hates cold weather.. long story)

I was chase raced by a bug eye (03) WRX, so we took it to the highway at 45mph. He instantly gets a jump and gradually pulls on me by 3-4 cars... I am sitting at 3200 rpm the entire time I shiet you not.

Wow.. no joke.. without the blower, my GT is a SLUG!

I didn't even get it to 100 and he was already cars ahead of me.

He rolled up and I gave him a thumbs up.

It wasn't really a "raping" because he pulled very gradually, so it's not like it was light speed like some deaths I have had (03 Cobra).

I was like.. wow.. "you beat a CAI/4.10/auto on the highway rofl"..
what's that.. 280whp??

oh well, he beat me fair and square; but no doubt about it, with the Vortech I would have whooped on him! lulz

That's weird because my Paxtron2000 loves the cold frigid air. In the winter she feels like she has 50 more HP then she has in the hot SC summer.

Kinda off topic.. I thought a S/C would flourish in cooler temps. Is this just a Vortech issue, are do all S/C's perform the same in colder climates?

Cold air = dense air

The amount of gain would just depend on how efficient the blower is I suppose.

Honestly I can't think of any application (FI or N/A) that doesn't benefit from cooler temps.

Somehow I suspect that the cold that OP sees redefines the term

Believe it or not, my Vortech owners manual says something to the effect of we shouldn't operate vortech supercharged vehicles in sub-40 degree temps. No ****. Sucks.

Usually bugeyes are nothing special. Even as a "stage 2". Must have been modded a bit.

I hear the Roush's R2300 or the M90 can withstand the cold but it will not operate anything over 3200-3500 or so.. they just stop pulling in air I have read on many sites. I don't mind having to take it off.. it only takes a few moments, but my GT without a supercharger is like a really really hot looking chick with a chastity belt. A few weeks ago I beat the hell out of an Evo 9 MR and a similar WRX.. this week, it's like every other ride is beating me

it has to do with the housing unit/internal gears.. expansion rates of metals etc. I contacted them with no resolving the issue other then basically tending to it like a sick baby, and I wasn't up for that lol. I decided to just take it off for the winters.. long long winters.

Vortech's are actually good to around 25* F. Much lower then that and your better off taking another car then risking it.
