i got a 96 gt 5.4 supercharged and a friend of mine has a ls1 comaro he wants to race for big bucks 2,000 grand im running 4:10s my car puts out about 400 rwhp 480 fpt the comaro has zo6 heads and a shift kit(auto) so i know i can get him off the line and im pretty sure i can get him in the long run but for $2,000 grand i cant be pretty sure what do u think?

 

Race him and drive hard. You should be able to take him. What kind of a race is it? 1/4 mile? Roll on the interstate?

 

To be honest with you. That could be scary. If he bothered to put the Z06 heads on, he probably put a cam in it. Then if he put a cam in, he probably threw a converter in there too.

If thats the case, and he has any suspension work done... You're looking at probably a mid to low 11 sec car depending on the cam thats in it.

Are either of you on a drag radial? And what do you run in the 1/4?

 

$2000? He must be pretty confident. If those are his only mods I'd give you the win but an LS1 Camaro can look stock and run low 11's, especially if he's hidden an N20 system somewhere. Ask him to remove the air intake to be sure he hasn't.
I personally think it's dumb to race for that much anyway, unless you wipe your *** with Benjamins.

 

If he knows what you have he has to have more done to his car. If it is a friend of yours tell him to pop the hood and start looking for lines.(NOS) But if he only has heads he must be crazy.

Do you honestly believe that those are stock Z06 heads? Who puts those on without any port work?

I got news for you. Ported Z06 heads, cam, suspension, and a stall. You're in trouble. Nitrous?? Easy 10's.

If this race is even for real you better listen to sidewayz. A very very close friend of mine has a 99 Camaro with the following. Full exhuast, tune, gears, lower control arms, and a high stall converter, also he is of course on a drag radial. His car has run 11.4. No nitrous, no cam, no heads. You guys can either believe me or not, I really don't car, but I am around these cars alot and I can tell you that I think the LS1 will be alot faster than what the guy is making it out to be. I just remembered, 98LS1 just put up his dyno numbers and he made almost 400 rwhp with just a cam and exhuast, so keep that in mind.

 

Dude I haven't even piped in yet. So why do you have to say you guyS. There was just one. Pretty funny though Sidewayz. Now about that heads and shift kit only car he said he is running. He didn't say NOS or full exhaust or lower control arms or DRs. He said a head and shift kit LS1 which will not beat his car with the numbers he has, unless he doesn't know how to drive.




Pretty soon you guys will hear a stock LS1 wants to run me and you will say watch out he could have NOS and heads and a big *** cam with a 3800 stall and full exhaust with suspension work and a lid. Thats funny guys I love the LS1 guys they are good for a laugh.
