1971 Plymouth GTX vs. Blown Mustang
Today was a great day!! i ran into my brothers old 1971 Plymouth GTX 440 with hurst 4 speed he had it back in mid 80's and i remember that car being crazy fast (80 mph out of 2nd gear). It has some work done to it some bolts and cams and pushing 450-500 HP at the fly wheel but a very heavy car.
We got to a traffic light side by side asked the guy if he wanted to run. He did. Light went green, and we both had slight traction issues. I got him quickly by 1-2 lengths in 1st gear while both of us spinning. Once I got it in 2nd gear, I took 4-6 lengths on him before shutting down.
He gave me thumbs up! I have been waiting several years to run this car and wanted to run him on the highway but he wouldn't.
Needless to say, i sent a text message to my brother telling him i just spanked his old car
but have not heard from him yet.

It was my brothers car and stock from factory they were underatted at 375 hp. With headers, cams, and a bigger carb it would be in that range. I believe he trapped 120 mph with that car at the track not sure of the times it was 25 years ago.
thx. I figured i would definitely win but wanted the chance and got it. I was 11 years old in '85 and thought car was awesome. My poor stupid brother ended up selling that perfect running car just needed some paint for something like 7 grand in early 90's once he got married.
Car is today is worth close to 100k at all numbers matching.

However, a 120 mph trap speed denotes a very powerful powerplant. It would be interesting to see what it traps now.
