Stkjock vs. Modded SL500
Cruising along to meet some guys for breakfast this past Sunday I see a Merc SL coming up on my left. At first I think not much of it, as he closes he seems to be accelerating to pass me, tisk tisk.
As he pulls alongside I drop to 3rd around 60, as I do so, I hear him nail the go pedal. I follow suit and instantly stop his pull and start to reel him back in. As I let 3rd run out to 6500 or so I have a car on him, speed shift to 4th, the gap continues to widen. I let out at the near the top of the rev range with him back 6-7 cars.
FWIW - IDK what the mods were, it did have badging on the right trunk lid as if from a tuner shop, "Kleemann" , they make supercharger kits for Mercs.
As I slowed to cruising speeds again he pulled along side and we exchanged nods and smiles. I think he was a bit surprised that a stock looking GT500 ran away from him.

I forget the name of the car, but it was the MB two door long sedan looking 65 series AMG. Did a 3rd and 4th gear roll when I had the turbo. Smoked him.
The MB are furious in power, comfort, technology and weight. Love to see them make some racin' a bit.
FWIW I rarely have any comp ever at the drag strip or on the street (from newer, late model type cars). There are a few modded C6 corvettes and very few C6 Z06's here. One newer Viper and a handful of the fast porches. I only get challenged in the city when I drive down there.
You are lucky.
