SBC S10 vs me
I was in my Full bolt on 87 gt on 26x8.5 M&H Racemasters
My best friend has a 86 S-Dime and he recently done a 327 swap (bored .30 over so a 331) in it. Don't know too much about the motor except it's from a 67 Camaro has the double hump heads, has a cam (we think it's a L79 cam??) edelbrock torquer single plane intake, 650 holly double pumper, suppose to be higher comp, he had the timing set at 16* on 110 race gas, shorty headman header and true duals, has a th350 2500 stall, and the stock 3.42 gears, on big and littles with 26x11.5 ET Streets. When it still had the 2.5 iron duke in it 4speed manual it weighed 2700 w/o him in it on stock 14" wheels.....
Ok so we haven't had much of an idea on how the truck ran except it pull pretty good from a 1st gear roll at 3500 rpms, but dead from anything under that (the speedo doesn't work)... We do the math and saw it is right at 30mph at the roll. We looked up the gearing on my 4cyl tranny and with the 3.73s in my car.... So basically my 2nd gear is close to the same as his 1st my 3rd as to his 2nd and my 4th to his 3rd.
All the runs he has a passenger and I'm alone
Our first run is from a 30 roll I'm in 2nd he's in 1st 3 honks we are off!! He starts to pull instantly not hard but he was pulling by the time I went to 3rd he put me to his door and he kept pulling and put me to his rear bumper, then when he shifted into 3rd he said it spuddered and I was in 4th and started pulling back and by the time I reached 6k in 4th I put maybe a bumper on him... (110-115)
We pull off and he bumps the fuel pressure up and filled the front and back bowls up more on the carb.
2nd run we did another 30 roll and 3rd honk we are off and I started pulling instantly and put maybe a 1/2 a car on him by the time he went to 2nd (don't ask me how but he missed 2nd and the run was over)
3rd run we did a 35 roll (he's at 4,000 in first I'm at 3500 in 2nd) 3rd honk and we are off and it was side by side till he went to 3rd (he said it spuddered but at as bad as the 1st run) and I pulled about 1 1/2-2 cars on him by the I hit the rev limiter in 4th
4th run we did about a 5-10 mph roll he honked it 3 times but I waited to see how the truck was going to act and it spuddered on the kick and once it picked up I kicked it blowing 1st away pulled 2nd and spun like hell (hooked at about 5k in 2nd) and we where dead nut side by side till I pulled 4th and I started creeping and he hit 3rd right after and I pulled even harder due to his spuddering going into 3rd and I won by 1 1/2 cars
5th run was identical as the 4th run except I kicked it right on the 3rd honk and spun worse in 2nd gear (by the time it hooked I was at 5800 and shifted into 3rd) Still side by side and I started pulling in 4th and it spuddered into 3rd for him again and I won by 1 1/2 cars again.....
All in all I think the truck runs very good and it just needs some more fine tunning. Tomorrow he is putting a 4.10 posi rear end in it from a s-10 extreme and we will be running again soon to see what kind of gains he gets

Here is some pics of the truck....
And to give you an idea of how it was as the swap started here it is right after we dropped the motor in haha
Here is my car in case anybody has wondered.....

Ol' Lax nailed it, lol. Mr E has definitely been a distraction.
Those runs sound like good runs. I dig the modded S-10s. Dropping a decent motor in them is the easy part... getting the bastards to hook, not so much. A fella that owns a business in the same building I work in has an S-10 with an LT1 swap. Said he hates that he went with the LT1, but at the time, the LS1 hadn't been really introduced yet. He says his biggest issue is racing from a roll. Says he can't seem to get in the right gear from a roll. If he goes from a dig, she's pretty stout. I think he said he ran a 12.8 with it. Its cammed with bolt-ons, etc. Anyway, nice runs and once again you have a stout Five-oh for the mods you have.
