Default Male bonding

so i had to go into work for about an hour and on my way out i noticed my dad. he catches up to me and we our at a red light. He drives a 97 SS/T dodge ram. He only has exhaust but its a pretty sweet truck. Well he revs up at me which i instantly got a huge smile cause he always lectures me about speeding etc etc. so it was fun. My problem no traction. Light turns green and he shoots out a good length to length and a 1/2 before i can hook up then i fly past him. We meet up at home and he tells everyone he smoked me hahaha. It would have sucked if it was like a camaro or something. My car is auto, any advice on how to shoot out good cause if i just gun it obviously im gonna spin.
Good way to spend a sunday morning with your dad

sticky tires (micky thompson) and suspension mods. upper/lower control arms, ETC

Back when I was in the army I came home for some R&R, and rented a Hyundai accent. they have like 70hp. my dad was following me in his truck to return the car, and take me to the airport. he drove a dodge ram cummings diesel, stock.

when we got pretty close to the airport, we had a long strait road, and he got next to me. he power braked the truck and burned the tires a little, and we both where just laughing. took off from the light and that truck just MURDERED that little rental car, it was pathetic, lol.

was a awesome father/son moment, haha

Gotta roll into the throttle from a dig, at least until you get some better tires. What tires do you have anyway? You really shouldn't be having that much trouble with traction, unless you have quite a few mods.

Sounds like a good time. My dad is always like this. Matter of fact, almost every "dad" I've really known over the years has been like this in some way. Fun stuff.

My only mod is a jlt cai and bama 87 tune. I have the sumitomo tires from american muscle. They are the seasonal...basically equivalent to the stock pirelli tires. I was saving for some 18 inch black bullits and was gonna wrap them in some nittos. I dont track or nothing just have fun every once in a while, its my daily driver and whether is so random here, lots of rain.

you will always just have to ease onto the throttle on the streets, even with my M&Hs i'll break them loose.. and spinning isn't winning... goal is to get as little wheel spin as possible.. soon after i got my M&Hs on i raced my bro-in-law in his van.. just for the lols.. and i sat there spinning because i gave it too much gas, he was ahead by a good ways before i got traction and passed him..

just practice anytime you can from a stop and see just how much gas you can give it w/o breaking the tires loose (also turn off traction control)
