98 maxima vs 98 GT
the guy who helped me w/ my s/c-er has a 98 GT auto with a catless H pipe and flowmasters. my brother thinks he could take him w/ his 98 maxima 5spd w/ a catted Y pipe. i tell my brother that he doesnt have a chance b/c he has nothing over him. and he tells me that he has better gearing and is a 5spd. o yeah and he thinks that he gained 20 FWHP w/ a catted Y pipe
my guess is that my bro will get smoked

Those two cars are evenly matched. If it was a 99+ GT the Maxima would be toast. But the 98 was before they bumped both the HP and TQ figures with the redesigned intake. It's a drivers race. I'm not sure if the times below are auto or manual so....
Stock 98 GT runs 14.8-15.1 1/4 mile
Stock 98 Maxima 15.0-15.3 1/4 mile
Whomever gets the traction off the line and doesn't miss a shift is the winner.

you're forgetting the weight difference.
Maxima - 3001 lbs
Mustang GT - 3234 lbs
The advantage in specs the mustang has is partially lost by this.

derf, do not kill a good moment since I am going to get a free beer. I understand that the stang is a little on the heavy side but I still have confidence on the stang over the maxima.
