SO, the wife and I are out for an evening cruise, and I hear the oh so beautiful tone of "real" mustang up ahead, making his presence known to everyone. So, I make my way up through traffic, but he noticed me and let me catch up. Ended up being a very nice NE with a young asian kid behind the helm. We give a nod, do a little sprint, then head to the highway.

We line up at about 60mph, and my dumbass drops it to 2nd, and 3 honks and we go. He seems to hesitate, letting me jump out 1/2 car while I pull the 2-2.5k rpm I have left in 2nd, and powershift 3rd causing the stupid TC to come on for a split second. He gains a little ground back, but once the the rpm's started climbing he started falling, fast. We ran out to my speed limiter, with him back 2-ish cars.

Again we line up, about 50-55 this time. 3 honks, I go, he studders again, again letting me out that 1/2 car from the jump. With more rpms to work with this time, I had at least a full car by the time I grannied 3rd, then commenced to pull pretty good on him. I'd say at least 2.5-3 cars.

Now, I will say something seemed wrong with the car/driver/both. It sounded like it was trying to downshift on the highway, like an auto, but I KNOW it was a 5spd from his earlier antics.

Either way, I asked if he wanted to go again, and he cried uncle. The kid was REALLY pissed, but I gave him a thumbs up and said great runs, he replied the same way. I tried to get him to pull over and talk after we hit the exit, but he just stared straight ahead, kept it in high gear nice in quiet.

BTW, he was alone, I had the wife... fwiw...

Nice kills buddy. A New Edge GT is a good race for our cars, they have the advantage down low and we have the advantage up top. Too bad the guys car wasn't running right. Also, turn off that damn T/C man!

 

Good run, man. I don't see a 2V doing much more with a 3.7 from a roll like that, not without some good mods.

Did it sound like his clutch was slipping or something? J/W what that auto downshifting type sound could've been.

 

Thanks bro! I may also suggest that he just may not have heard all the honks... with the wind noise and his sexy exhaust, may be feasible.

Either way, going from those speeds takes away the advantage the 2vs have over our cars, it just happened to be a little worse then it shouldve

Edit: Stonie.... its possible, but Im sure I woulda heard the car free-revving with the exhaust it had. Still a possibility

 

might have been breaking up or something when he stomped it, causing his car to hesitate before taking off.

Yep, I saw a NE GT vert in traffic a few days after i got my 2012, he was dancing between lanes and revving, he had new dealer stickers on it too so I guess he just picked it up...although it can easily take 45 days to get the stickers/plates here so he might have had it awhile. in any case, those people annoy me. Good kill.
