Default '12 3.7 vs. '87 fox **vids**

I was out n about tonight looking for a little run or two. My brother set up a run with a kid that had a muffler delte/e-fan/bumped timing/k&n/2.73 '87 gt. I must say, the ol fox ran damn good for what it was. FWIW, the kid may have weighed buck-80, and my brother and I added another 550lbs to the 3400# car weight.

All the runs except one were from 20ish rolls. Even until 3rd, then I pull 2ish cars untill 110-115. The last one was from a 45 roll, I pull 1/2 car to 100. The vids are cell phone night vids, but you can tell exactly whats happening.

Sorry for the lack of editing. 2 slow cars, kinda boring, but the rush was decent! Thanks for looking.

Nice kills. Not surprised he put up a fight in the beginning, as the old push rod 5.0's can usually hold their own through the first couple gears. Once it becomes a horsepower race, they don't have the top end to compete. That is, as long as they're running N/A with stock heads.

Didn't hurt that you two boys weigh a bit more than a quarter ton.

Good runs guys!! The Fox did hold it's own for the limited number of mods, but the extra weight in your car really helped him out too!!

Looking forward to heading back to VMP this month. It looks like I might be off of work and could make it up there on 11/19.

IT's not like the '87 Fox bodies were all that light either. My '85 GT weighed in at 3500 lbs. That's pretty heavy if you ask me, considering my '79 hatch, with me in it, weighed only 2800 lbs.

My brothers '87 weighs in around 28-2900lbs. This guys car was a factory stripper, manual everything, didn't even have cruise! I'm willing to bet the car wasn't over 2900lbs.

I can't wait to go back to the track! 2nd gear was acting like a little bitch last night, but it aint gonna stop me, yet

Yeah, I'd say the that if you lost your brother you'd pull pretty hard...

My good buddy has a bone stock 2011 GT500 and our cars are virtually identical in acceleration, it's actually crazy how close they are. We did a 40-120(ish) run a few weeks ago and I had my 250lb buddy in the car and my friend and his GT500 put over a car length on us in that time... the added weight is just an anchor.

I agree, I think had I been by myself it woulda been more like 3-4 cars.

We had several other runs that weren't posted. I missed 2nd twice, he missed it on one. Still can't figure out what I'm doing differently to miss 2nd intermittedly. I mean, cmon, its the 1-2 shift, lol, should be the LAST gear being missed.

Your '85 GT must have had a serious eating problem!! I have owned probably 50 Foxes over the years and none of them weighed anywhere near 3,500 pounds!!
