Default iPhone dyno app test

So.. I hope I'm posting this in the right section. I have never posted in here before so go easy on me.

I have never done any racing or anything in the year and a half I have had my car. But I have heard about dyno apps that will time you for a 1/4 mile and all that stuff including HP of your car.

I wanted to try it so I found one called Pocket Dyno for the iPhone. It seemed to be really accurate and gave all kinds of data points. I would have done better had I been ready for the start but my friend started the countdown before I was ready so the reaction time is horrible.

My car is an 09 Automatic running on a Bama 87 octane tune with CAI and axleback exhaust. I don't think it did too bad considering what is in it. Does this thing seem accurate to you guys?

PS: I'm sorry for the pictures being so big.. I tried re-sizing them but apparently it didn't work..

Looks about right for the 1/8 mile time for a near stock car

App seems to work pretty well IMHO.... these were results from some testing I did....

Traction on the street makes it hard for a true head to head... I'm going to try hard to get heads up testing done at the track this year.

seems fairly accurate....didn't know phones had an app for that. Learn something everyday.

most of those apps were way off last time i saw posts about them. Looks like they are getting a bit more accurate now. true test will be at the dragstrip though.

That's what I thought too.

Yeah I turned TC off too and being on 20's made me spin a little on shifts.

That's part of the reason I posted this. I was also curious as to others' results from them compared to actual times.

I've had a gtech pro that I've had for a few years now that works pretty well. Got within a tenth of my actual final time at the strip. MPH could use some work though. Haven't tested it towards an actual dyno though.

A couple of places have down reviews on the iPhone apps (dynolicious/pocketdyno).. the biggest thing is securing the phone so it doesn't move/bounce. (this can screw up the results big time).

I believe one even compared dynolicious to a g-tech pro and found it to be more accurate. I don't put much weight behind the numbers but it's fun to toy with when I'm bored.

Unless that thing acts like a pro tree, which I imagine it's based off movement, your reaction time will have no affect on the ET.
