Default Ran a SN197 tonight

My friend and I were driving down the highway and we ran into a 05-10 style Mustang. It was white with black trim and as we rolled up next to it I mentioned to my friend that this must be a 4.0 V6, not necessarily a slouch. I just had my friend in the passenger seat and it looked like the mustang had 3 people in the car.

He acted like he wanted to race, so I lined up next to him and started to slow down. I got down to about 50 and downshifted to 3rd. As I did the mustang just took off with no honking or anything. So I floored it in 3rd and gave chase. He jumped out about a car length because of his early start but I started reeling him in. I watched the rev counter climb and hit 4th.

We started pulling a little harder and began to pass the mustang. I hit 5th gear, still foot to the floor and we began pulling away pretty steadily. Probably pulled 2 cars or so in front of him and then started to hit the brakes. It was a good race but really wasn't much of a contest. Afterwords he acted upset and didn't want to race anymore.

It is worth mentioning that I was actually driving my friends Jetta GLI. Its actually a pretty fun car to drive, and I won my first race in a VW!

Nice. Did you ever figure out if it was a 6 or not? Assuming it was by the beating.

Defiantly a 4.0 V6. Had the single exhaust, no GT badge on the trunk or the sides and had the V6 grill. It sounded stock, no exhaust, and drove like it was an auto.

Yeah they are fun to drive. After driving my Z06 it is weird to drive something with such a light clutch and gear changes. It also just feels small and light on its feet while you're driving it. Not bad for a 4dr family car.

Nice kill OP; what model GLI was it? That 4.0 must have been having a pretty bad day, or a real heavy load if you took him by that much.

A well driven 4.0 will get high 14s or low 15s. I thought the new GLIs did low 15s at best, either way nice work stig!
