Background
My neighbor has a Del Sol that he recently tossed on a turbo kit on. Car moves out well, I actually rode in it a few weeks ago and it was pretty impressive. Very light car and this isn't his first turbo setup so the car is done well.

A couple weeks back we ended up heading out from home about the same time and made a few passes on the two lanes... he was hanging right behind me and later commented he was hoping I would jump on the interstate with him to play.

This morning I ended up behind him and decided to take him up on the offer.

The Del Sol
Hopefully some of you guys know this stuff and can make sense of it.. I know very little.

Tuned @ 7psi

The Race
Jumped on the interstate behind him and we got lined up. Speeds dropped down to around 60~65..him being a turbo I figured he wouldn't have a problem with the higher speed. I dropped to 2nd and started the honks... unfortunately he signaled that he couldn't hear them so I held up my fingers.
Started counting down....3....2....and I went on 1. He didn't. LOL I let off the gas and he started to go...so I got on the gas again. Unfortunately not a clean run and he started to push past me... near the top of 2nd I started to creep...shifted to 3rd and started to pull.... hit 4th and let off at 130 with maybe 1 to 1 1/2 lengths on him (really hard to tell from the side mirror though).

I need to talk with him to get his perspective and I will come back and clean this up a little bit.

TLDR; raced my neighbors boosted del sol..pull him a little over a car length from 65 to 130. He will most likely up the boost and kill me in the near future.

 

Damn, he must have it set-up well. Sounds strong for sure. Good run, Skater. A clean run and vid would be perfect!

Sorry guys had a meeting tonight and just got home won't get to talk to him tonight. I'll update ASAP.

Edit: He is supposed to message me later after his class gets out.. saw him this morning said something about his Vtec not kicking in. Setting up a rematch after issues get sorted.

 

Updated with his specs... talked to him this morning and something was up with his VSS and he said Vtech wasn't activating. Will likely get another race soon to see how much of a difference that makes. The way it sounds I'm going to lose this time around... will try to get on video but no promises.

 

I got that he is turbo'd and pushing 7 psi. lol

Try to run him again, possibly from a dig?

 

Sadly if I do a dig I'll lose. He's running better tires and I'm still failing to launch this thing in embarrassing fashion.

 

Depending on the quality of the tune and kit he's running, it probably makes in the low 200's. Should be quick.
