Default Spining ani't winning

So out this morning with the crew and the usual suspects are out. A few blower Vettes, turbo 911s, GTR, two M6s, a blown 1000+ hp Viper and I'll ole me.

Buddy in a AWD Turbo 911 pulls along side. His car is converted to burn the corn, upgraded intercoolers, tune and new rims and tire package.

Now I'm rolling with 28 psi in the M&Hs, stupid I know, he slows and brings me down to 40, as I curse him out load and laugh, I drop two second gear knowing this will be tricky for me. We pace each other and he beeps three times and we are off.

I roll into the go pedal and the Whipple screams to life. He instantly gets out 1/2 a car as 60mph comes up I have my foot to the floor, the M&Hs cry in pain and give up the the ghost, the rear gets loose as the revs slam toward 6500. As the road gets painted with 11s the 911 moves a full car out on me. I grab third and the gap stays at about a car plus. As I let the 32 valves scream for air I slowly real in a few inches. Power shift to 4th and the Shelby jumps forward once more only to be held at bay by the spool of the VGTs.

Our cars are pretty closely matched, but when he slowed it to 40 and I started in 2nd, 600ft/lbs over powers the poor tires.

Had a second run with a 2011 LS3 Vortech blown GS, 4.10 gears, meth injection and NT05r tires.

He pulled along side on the road and I down shift to get his attention, he and his passenger look over and smile, next I hear him down shift to 2nd I am guessing and the flutter of the centri fills the air. He looks over as if to say, ok honk the start, I wave my hand to the road and he gets the idea, I give him the hit.

He mails the go pedal and the vortech streams to life as the Vette jumps out about 1/2 a car. I slam the gas to the floor board and the front of the Shelby raises in the air as the motor sucks in huge volumes of air. The Mistress instantly closes 1/2 the gap, as the revs build in 3rd the gap disappears and our bumpers pull even. I grab 4th gear and start to pull away I get out about a fender and let out as the speeds are now well into the danger zone.

My friend who was in the passenger seat told me at breakfast that the front end lifted so much when I hit it that the gap from the fender to the tire seemed to be nearly a foot, it's usually only 2-3 inches.

All in all it was a fun morning.

Nice writeup. Love hearing your stories, feels like Im in the car with ya! Can't win'em all I reckon, but sucks to lose due to traction...

Good races. It sucks that the 911 got you, especially when you couldn't get any traction. Good race with the vette though.

Good runs, Stk. Any chance you could dial it back some, just enough so that the MTs will half way hold? I'm just wondering if you would be faster if you turned the power down some.

I knew he likely would at that speed.

I could, I do have a tune with a bit less timing and power, but what fun is that. The motor has at least 150 hp left in it. I have to see how she does with the tires aired down.

good races man! I think nothing sucks more than knowing you would have won a race if you didn't have traction issues. air down those tires and get a rematch
