LS1 Vs. 5.0
Finally got to run a new 5.0 on the street this morning. I've ran plenty at the track, but I don't really like counting those as "races" unless the other guy specifically challenges me....which has not happened with a 5.0. Anyway, the guy I ran this morning lives right around the block from me so I see him around a lot, but for the first few months he just drove around all cautious, never looking my way, etc. Well, the past couple weeks I've noticed that when we get on the belt line to our jobs, he has been driving a little more aggressive. This morning, I took a different route, so I was already on the belt line when I saw him entering on another ramp right beside me. I was running about 70 mph when he merged in about 2 bus lengths behind me. Watching him in my rear view, I saw him speeding up to catch me, so I just held my speed for a second. He got about a car length behind me and nailed it, no warning or anything. I saw his front jump a little and as soon as I did I floored it (was already out of OD anticipating him). He got dead even with me at which point I stopped his pull, held it for a second, then starting putting ground on him. By 110 mph he was a good 2 cars back, prolly over 3-4 second span, not really sure. We both let off and he took the next ramp. I'm going to stop by his place next time I see him outside and see if we can line up something a little more formal with an even start, vids, all that good stuff. His car is a manual, already peeped in it while walking my dogs, lol. We live in townhouses, so it's not like I crept up in his driveway or anything....
On a side note, right after this happened an LT1 Firebird tried a flyby. Long story short, it didn't work. He loved it though, when I stopped his flyby he was giving me a thumbs up and grinning from ear to ear as I walked past him, lol. Tell you what, those two runs did a hell of a lot for me than the two cups of coffee I had as far as waking my *** up goes!

Nice Kill man! Thats probably about what should happen against a stock one judging by your mph. Weather permitting, a buddy of mine is going to take his bone stock 2012 GT to the track this weekend on a set of drag radials I let him borrow. Looking to run 7.90s @ 86-87 mph with a good launch. Will be ineteresting to see how it goes... I will let you know. He is a good driver and will push the car, so it will give you a good idea of the possibilities of a stock car.
Yep............high 10s with a tune and DRs

You know me well, sir!
Thanks, man. Looking at a new pistola, so a go-pro is on the list, but not at the top just yet. Found a bunch on Ebay in the $200 range. not bad imo.
Appreciate it, Holland. Go-Pros are cool as hell imo, love the perspective they give from the side of the car.
I was glad to get a quick street run against one. But now I want to find out what gear he was in and all that stuff, just to be sure he was doing his part
I'll catch him outside his place and talk to him next time I go by..
