drag shifting question
I'm the only person that I know that drives a muscle car, ('05 v6 mustang), so I'm trying to figure out the best revs to shift at for dragging. It seems to me that the power seriously levels out at just over 5k but I'm not sure if this is just my imagination. So the question is what is the best rpm to shift at?
Thnx.

mustang isn't a muscle car, a v6 mustang most certainly isn't. you'll have to get your car dyno'd to see where it actually levels off. should just shift a couple hundred before redline. you should be fine.
So what you're saying is that I want to shift as soon as the hp levels out? And as for the muscle car thing, my last car was an '89 tercel, so pretty much anything seems like a muscle car to me. BTW what is your actual definition of a muscle car, (I always thought it was a car with more torque than hp)? I'm looking into a supercharger for this car, and then I'll be going turbo all the way (once I drop another engine into this one or I buy another car).
pretty high expectations huh buddy? A supercharged 05 v6 would be a great sleeper and probably pretty fast, but before you go and do all that, add it up and see how much money thats gonna cost u. Thats gotta be somewhere close to 03 cobra territory, and if u had enough money for a cobra and bought an 05 v6 cuz they looked cool, then I wish bad things on you.j/k What im saying is, if ur into performance, youre not in the right car.
Part of the reason I bought it was, yes, because they look cool, but the main reason was the extra room. I never sat in an '03 cobra but being that I'm 6'4", after I took my car for a test drive I fell in love with it. Way more room than the '03 v6 that I also test drove. I wasn't really planning on beefing up the power when I bought it but now that I thurst for more power it seems like the best option. Besides if I'm going to go for a sports car that isn't totally comfortable I'd get a porsche. The sleeper part is out as I have the GT grille on it. I'm not going to do an engine swap until I kill the one that's currently in it and I didn't buy the GT because at the time I couldn't quite swing it at the time and the insurance would be more. Probably the biggest reason I didn't buy the GT was that I've never driven a RWD car before and didn't want to kill myself as I take speed limits as a suggestion (1/2-1/3 of the speed I drive). On top of that I'd been walking for a couple of months since I drove my last car 'till it died and them some, so I wanted a car right away and that one was at the dealership. Basically I wanted comfort, looks and performance in the same car and mine currently has 2 out of 3 (extra points for the cool decals).

heh. i'm 6'3 and i fit in an 04 GT perfect. <3 it. i'm still not really a fan of the 05, except for the engine. them things respond a lot better to mods than 96-04s. mmmmm.. vortech 05...
