Default Should I install longer wheel studs?

I'm going to be hitting the strip a few times a year, not a regular thing. I have my slicks all set, only needed a 1/8 spacer for the jeg wheels on the rear. No caliper grinding needed at all..

My fronts are Summits 15X4 with 1-3/4BS , PN: SUM-541-5465PS and a 1/2 Spacer with Slight caliper grinding. I was told that a 3/8" Spacer would need no caliper grinding but found that not to be the case. I'm not sure how much grinding there needs to be with a 3/8 space. But it seemed too much in my eyes. I may be wrong.

Anyway, I have both spacers, the 3/8 and the 1/2 inch but the 1/2 inch spacers is what I plan to use on the track only. Not going to use that on the street. I have 9 1/2 turns of thread engagement with the 1/2 spacer. Which comes to just under 1/2 inch, about 7/16 from what I can tell.

Now should I install longer studs or is this okay for the strip? I only plan on using this rim at the strip, no street duty at all.

what lugs are you using?

the rears I think are ok, but the fronts the smart thing would be longer studs, FRPP sells a front hub with ARP studs already installed.

The lugs are OEM but the lug nut are these which give me about 1/4 inch more thread engagement over stock.

I also want to be able to use my current lug nuts, I know the extended lug's require you to use open end lug nuts. That's fine for the track but I'm only going to see the track a few times a year.

I'd want more thread engagement at the strip than on the street, honestly. I'd go with the longer studs.

I agree with you. I'll have to get my hands on some new studs.

Does anyone know the length of the OEM studs? I think they are 2.3 inches long but I'm not sure.

American muscle have these studs. I bought them for the rears and fronts. I wanted them to be longer bc putting the racestar wheels on can be a pita.

Yeah, mine are coming tomorrow. Did you need to get longer lug nuts to fit your standard wheels or you running the Racestar's all the time?

No I don't run mine all the time just at the track.
