I was not sure of the model year I just know it was from the 93-02 family (the bubble mobiles as I called them, no offense).

I guess model year would probably determine quite a bit, but without knowing much about Camaro's would be hard to guess I just know it was from that series of model year from the shape and design.

Stone629 12-18-2012 08:54 PM

Haha, no offense taken, man. The headlights are the biggest give away. All earlier 93-97 LT1s had the headlights positioned inward of the hood, and all the LS1 cars had the headlights flush with the edge of the hood. Night and day top end between the two cars.

Gary Ugarek 12-18-2012 08:56 PM

This one had the headlights recessed, kind of like they were in the 80's. They weren't bulged out.

I have a 2002 Z28, and stock for stock a Coyote Mustang should drop loads all over my car, dig or roll. It shouldn't even be close. 340ish hp vs 412, with comparable weight. That's a bigger power differential than LT1 vs LS1, and we all know the score there.

EDIT: Just saw your last post; I must have been typing. That was an LT1 car, and unless it had a lot of work done to it (heads, cam, etc) then your car would rape it in the butthole every time.

Thats an LT1. He had no chance unless he had a lot of work done, heads, cam, etc.

Like I said don't know the camaro's but i know Mustangs.

There is irony in all of this though, bought my Godson a car, he turns 17 in february, but just got his learners... ended up buying him a 95 Camaro with 92k on the Odometer.

The front of what will be his car is very similar to what I was talking about, but the one in my story had z-28 badges.

Since you guys have Camaro's I will go on your word about engine and power. I will say I have an assumption the 5.0 should rape the LS1 as well if what i just looked up is accurate which it only makes 305 HP stock, vs the 13's 420?

please correct me if I am wrong... again don't know the camaros very well, but I do know the 3.4L in the one i bought for the GS are known for headgasket failures by my google search, but as I noted this one is pristine. considering the previous owner only put 5588 on it a year (17 years old)

Stone629 12-18-2012 09:35 PM

GM rated the LS1s at 305 and then 310 HP, and the SS and WS6 Trans Am at 325 IIRC, but it is a well known fact at that they were all in the 340-350 HP range. Under rated for whatever reason, probably as to not compete with the Vette. As far as the 5.0 walking an LS1 stock for stock, like I said it has been very debatable. The 5.0 definitely has the edge, but in my opinion its a drivers race. My current car dynoed at 385 RWHP with the mods I have now, about what a stock 5.0 puts to the wheels, yet I run over a full second faster than a stock 5.0. Point being, you have to look well beyond factory HP ratings.

Numbers don't lie. A newer 5.0 should straight handle an LS1 car every time. My car ran a best of 13.52 when stock, and my girlfriend's '01 Z28 ran 13.36 (mainly due to a better launch). Granted these are both autos with super sweet 2.73 gears, but still. If you have a Coyote 5.0 and can't outrun a stock or near stock 11-15 year old F-bomb then I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul. lol :D
Of course if you put ET Streets on the Camaro while rubbing Crisco into the treads of the Mustang, things may be different. Or if you put a girl behind the wheel of the Mustang. :p

Stone I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one. With EQUAL driver's in both cars (100% stock) the '11+ 5.0 is going to outrun the LS1 pretty good every time. The 5.0's are solid high 12 second cars with at least 11o MPH trap speeds and the LS1's are low to mid 13 second cars at around 106-108 MPH's.

Heck there was a guy at MIR when I ran my 3.7 car that had a new 100% stock '13 5.0 automatic car and he was running 12.5's at 113 MPH all day long. Before that he had an '11 automatic that ran a best of 12.4 @ 114+ when it was stock in negative DA at Cecil County.

Stone629 12-19-2012 09:08 PM

I hear you guys. And I agree the 5.0 is a faster car when all the variables are removed, equal drivers, etc.

How about mod for mod, lol...
