Interesting stuff... as I noted there is irony in this as I bought my 16 year old godson his first car, a very good condition 95 V6 Camaro, with 92k on the clock. Garage kept most of it's life. ($2551.00)

I presented it to him tonight.

But in regards to our original topic... I am sure if you mod the LS1 up it may keep pace, but stock for stock I just don't see the Ls1 keeping pace. again this is based on numbers and research.

Have to figure in more than just the power numbers...

The mustang has a poor Cd, and is a little heavier than the LS1 4th gen (little guys like stone and I keep these cars under 3600lbs with driver in stock form which is less than the curb weight of the GT.). I believe they both run around 150mph in the standing mile in stock form. I don't see why a lid/catback LS1 car would struggle to keep up at all (I trapped 108.59 stock and 109.5 with FRA only).

I went mid 12s with a tune, lid, cat-back. 12.2 at 114 with 3.73s and LTs.

Stock fir stock the 5.0's have a solid edge since there's more new gt's running mid to high 12's than LS1 cars even dipping into the 12's. Will a new 5.0 a$$ rape a ls1; I'd say no but in most cases the ford will come out on top.

On regular street tires at that. In good weather yes also your car is definitely one of the stronger LS1 cars that I've seen for the mods.

Not disagreeing at all.. but even out of the ones running 12s the trap speeds are not out of reach. The 5.0 should pull but it should be a few car lengths win not bus lengths.

I'd say it depends a lot on the particular LS1 as well. Like 89 pointed out, mine seems to be one of the stronger ones. I had another one that took full bolt ons, suspension, and a tune just to run a 12.7....so it just depends.

Mod for mod the 5.0 will still tear an F-body a new one. Mid 11s with basic external bolt-ons is child's play with a new automatic GT.

Bolt-on for bolt on I agree, although I could've ran a big enough stall with DRs and prob ran mid 11s with just bolt-ons. Heads/cam Vs Heads/cam I disagree completely, that could go either way. I didn't think they were even do much with H/C packages on the 5.0 yet. FI goes to whoever is the craziest.

Besides, I thought the 5.0 ran 11s stock :icon_playing:

I think, if I rememebr from the literature, it is 12.6 Manual 12.5 Automatic?
