In your world, the GT is nothing more then a mustang GT with more power and a different body right?

 

No, but we can say that the Mustang GT is nothing more than a Mustang V6 with an engine and interior upgrade just as the Z06 is a C6 with the same. Know what im saying? Im not trying to argue or start a fight here. Just explaining my thoughts... so I would appreciate it if you kept your childesh remarks to yourself.

 

There's a lot more into making a Z06 out of a C6 than making a V6 into a GT.

engine, transmission, suspension, the body itself, rims, brakes.

First off, isn't the Z06 made from a stiffer, closed top body? where as the C6 can come in convertible and removable glass tops? I know that was how C5s and C5 Z06s were built.

 

Jdan you missed the point, the entire chassis on the C6 Z06 is different. It's made from a laminate of aluminum,carbon fiber and beleive it or not the floor is a laminate of balsa wood and carbon fiber, you don't get this on the regular C6. I am not trying to fight either, and I know you don't like GM's but you gotta give credit where it's due. You will not find another car for under $80,000 that will run with the C6 Z06, most cars will need to cost nearly double to compete. Remeber that in order for the car to be produced, it needs to meet all the requirments of the Gov't, emissions noise regs and so on. Yes you could build a faster car out of a Cobra/Camaro/C5/Pinto/Gremlin for less than the Z06, but it will not have all the same comforts, get decente milage and all around performance. Plain and simple the Z06 is at the top of it's class for balaced performance. You can go run 11's in the morning and then go to Road America in the afternoon and not change a thing on the car and still have a stout performer.

 

Oh, and you also won't pay a gas guzzler tax with the new Z06. Unlike the 1000 in tax you had to pay on the 03 cobras, and the extra grand on the base price for the 04s. Not to mention the 3000 dollar gas tax on the 06 SRT10s.

Chevy has done some amazing **** with the Corvette.

 

I got my $ on the 06 S281E. And it should cost less than the vette.

 

Well we will just have to wait and see, but remember the Saleens are not made as a regular prodution car from Ford, a more even comparison might be a Lingenfelter prepped Z06. In the mean time some cool links.

Lingenfelters are sick, but, how bout the Hennessey 1000...hehe. 0-60 in 1.85. thats impressive, but, back to the thread. i agree, im not a chevy guy per say, but, gotta give credit where its due, and chevy did a HELLUVA job with the new Z06. i cant wait to see one person. the C5 Z06's were fast enuff, i wanna see what the new ones can do. and what they sound like. i love the sound of the C5 Z06's with aftermarket exhaust. just sounds like its gonna tear something a new a$$hole

 

aside from the fact that he doesn't understand that the Zo6 shares nothing with the C6 other then some base looks. Thats still not the point one bit. No matter what car you have running fast weather it be a C5, a WS6, and 04 cobra, an STI, or a yugo, the fact remains that it's still not a Z06, and it's still not a mid-high 11 second car off the showrrom floor with a warrenty. Leave all your other thoughts aside because your totaly missing the point. Just because your against GM doesn't mean that any car thats as fast as it's ew flagship for cheeper is = to it in any respect. Thats why I used the enzo example, use what ever car you want, it doesn't matter what it is.
