Well i got into my first little race down on rte.40 near Edgewood, MD. I was driving the speed limit with my father-in law in the car. Well This 90 Gt white Foxbody pulls up next to me and paces me. I think nothing of it. He then starts toying with me and stomping it and letting off. Well i needed to get over in his lane so i try to speed up a little. Well he speeds up with me i had my turn signal on to get over he would not let me So i slow down to get behind him. he slows down i looked at him and was like WTF. He laughs at me he is like 17 or 18 years old with 3 others kids in the car. Well my father-in looks at me and said SMOKE-HIM. I was like ok what the hell. I down shift the cobra into 3rd. It revs to about 5500rpm. The guy sees me do this and he down shifts as well. He honks three times and BAM i stomp it first time ever flooring the car. I smoked him by about 10 cars or so i was able to get over to make my turn. The guy followed me but never did get next to me again. I did not think the cobra was as fast as it is. I think the only mod he had was Exhaust and intake.

ouch! you downshifted into 5500rpm? your poor engine and tranny. nice little kill though. he must have been stock to have been beatin that bad. stock fox's are rare.

Father-in-laws can be cool! It is fun to "smoke" my son's friends cars, but I do the driving.

 

oh, i know. just, if that happened to me, id be alot more relaxed around the guy, thats all.

 

truth is, I don't think my son-in-law liked me too much until he started helping work on our 86 project car. He started spending a lot of time at the house (brought our grandbaby with him, my wife loves that) helping me and my son work on the car. Now I let him drive the car at the track and he loves it. I started him out letting him drive with the SC belt off, now he has progressed to running the 1/8th at 6.49@105. Now he would rather spend time with me and the cars then anything.
