This evening I went for a cruse and normally when I do I dont run into to many races..But today i seen two i was in the passing lane coming up to a light when a gst pulled up beside me reving and throwing his arms out the window so I gave the thumbs up.. light turned green and he was with me threw first when I was spinning and then I hit 2nd i pulled like 2 or 3 car length and just let up..I got on the interstate and he followed and i noticed some bright blue lights behind him flyin up.. so a black ? gets beside me.. big scoop high spoiler subaru..there was no traffic and we slow down to about 20 and take off it was nose to nose til about 90 then he started to pull and by the end of 4th he was a good 3 cars ahead of me.. this happened 4 times same results.. what do you think it was modded wrx or sti could a stock wrx handle me like that with my mods.. im disappointed my buddy has a 03 mach with just exhaust i can get him by a car lenght at like 70 and then it even and my other buddy has a 97 cobra and i usally put 2 lengths on him

Sounds like an STI, probably modified. A stock WRX probably wouldn't hang with you at all.

 

looks like you have almost every bolton. time to get blown. if you hung with an sti and only lost by 3 cars, a supercharger would make your rock him.

then take him... Turbo vs Turbo

does it make anyone else angry that cars that we could easily take from a dig we can't touch from a roll? not saying we'll take an sti, but things like an srt4. we're only good out of the hole, which is why everyone wants to race us from a roll. cause they know from a dig, our torque will give us the sex.

 

Ya just need more motor there bro.. If I can win from a dig, I can win from a roll too. Of course the dig is usually a win by forever or something. It just isnt really fair when a street driven 4 cyl shows up and wants to run my pos. You would think the idle, 3.5" pipes under it, 295/65/15 tires and the noise that drowns out frieght trains would tip them off, but no it doesnt...

Havent seen to many street driven single digit 4 cylinders.

i agree with Nanaki also. torque is soo great though. i hardly ever run from a roll, unless the person just keeps punching it beside me, let off, punch it, let off, etc, etc, then, i downshift, and usually, bye bye. but, i dont play well with others, so, thats my excuse. but, definitely get the KB, and find him again. should be a VERY different outcome. and yes, it was an STi, definitely modded.

 

When we ran them it was dark out and after each time he started to pull b/t 85 and 90 and my girl noticed when he started to pull had alot of blue flashes coming out of his exhaust.. is that just the exhaust set up or is it something to do with the turbo or nos..Like i said it was dark and i seen the high spoiler and big scoop but didnt notice any sti badges cause it was black and i was looking thro 20%tint.. hope it was a modded sti cause I would think i could take a stock or minor modded wrx..with the 3 73's i dont pull hard on the top end like past 115 i mean is that the reason he was pullin so hard maybe? but he started to pull at 90?

 

The STI gearbox really isn't set up for drag racing, it's designed for rally racing. The gears are very short. BUT this does allow him to drop gears very quickly from a highway roll and jump into his powerband

The blue flame *could* have been nitrous, but most likely he was just running a catless exhaust setup. It does seem kind of suspect that he'd jump so hard on you at around 90 and then your girl saw blue flames, though. If it was a continuous blue flame he was probably spraying, but take heart in the fact that your engine will last much longer than his. Nitrous and Subaru engines are notoriously not good together unless you've taken a ton of precautions including a custom tune just for the spray.

My friend's white Stage 2 02 WRX grocery-getter wagon was hilarious. He and I had our tunes done on the same day up in Gaithersburg, MD. On the way home, a riced out GTI followed us through traffic on the highway for like 4 or 5 miles. It was some chick driving it, looked pretty nicely done up, and I could hear a blow off valve. My buddy was in front of me so I let the chick get past me once traffic opened up and duke it out with him for fun. He absolutely romped on her from like 55-110ish, and when he let off the gas a HUGE fireball exploded out of his exhaust lol! It was more effectively rice than doing the hazard light flash.

She was about 4 or 5 carlengths ahead of me at that point and still trying to catch my buddy, so I just mashed the gas in 4th gear and smoked by her We just both thought it was ironic that we'd get into such a situation and someone would try to race one of us IMMEDIATELY after we'd both just had our cars optimized for the mods we're running =p
