I just got my 06 4.0 auto mustang yesterday, already some guy at my job with a civic si says that he'll beat me in 1/4 mile. he says he'll beat me from start to finish. So i took his challenge and ima race so as there is good weather outside. What do you guys think the outcome will be? Should i be able to beat him start to finish. He has a clutch kit and i/h/e. My car is bone stock

 

it would be close for a 99-04 V-6 to beat a honda. but with the new 200 horse V-6 mustangs you should have no problem saying you can drive. good luck

 

No prob. at all. You should take him as long as you can drive decent. Even an older 3.8 should have no prob. w/ a good driver.

 

I dont think it will be a problem; 2000si should be chiming in... as he would know more than anyone else here about si's.

 

what year? if it's the new one, you're toast (not sure the new Si is even out though.) if it's the last gen, he'll put up a fight with those mods.

 

i thought i read the paper racing of the new si to be low 15s? if that's true, then the papers on an 05 v6 are about the same. so it might be a very nice race.

do best of 3 races if it's the new 197HP si.

 

Its not the new one, its a 2000 they have about 160 hp stock, hardly any torque and he has i/h/e which doesnt do much for imports. He really honestly swears that he'll destroy my car because its an auto.

 

00 SI's are game for a 99-04 v6. even an auto 99+v6 can hang around one of those. id say ull def beat him....u make about 170 hp to the wheels...that should make up for ur weight disadvantage...good luck

 

I actually rented a V6 auto 05 on Vacation a couple months ago. There is NO chance the auto V6 is a 15 second car. Maybe the 5-speed, I don't know. But I can't recall driving a slower car in the last few years. I also had one at a light a few weeks ago, tried to beat me to where the lane merged. And my Jeep put just about a car on him.

As sad as this is...God Damn, I even hate to admit this. The Civic is probably going to take you. From a roll might be different. But a dig is just about the worst place you could be with the V6 Auto.

 

I saw a bone stock auto '05 V6 run 15.3. I think you should be able to take out the SI but not by much.
