In a stock race which car would win?

Its a drivers race. The GTO did better in the Magazine tests I believe by only a tenth on the 0-6 and the 1/4. So IMO that means it is a drivers race - we could go out and race 5 times, swap cars and race 5 more - and the results would probably be 50/50 in either favor.

i had mine a week and raced a stock GTO at the track. i had the sctxcal2 in and nothing else. it wasn't close i ran 13.70 he ran 14.30. i think stock-stock they are pretty equal although the new GTO has 400hp so they should have a little more advantage even though they are heavier.

Thats amazing I thought a 2006 GTO would demolish our GT. After all isn't stocking the corvette engine?

The GTO I am talking about is an 05. Next week I'm going to install a set of headers on his machine. I do custom exhaust and mods. He is supplying the headers, JBL I think, not sure. Thanks for the feedback.
I'm pondering a Saleen S/C next spring. I think the look of the S/C is like it belongs there. There is a REAL Saleen for sale at my local Ford Dealer, $55,000. Really nice. If I did not have my GT I would buy it.

the only reason a GT would win is probably because the GTO can't hook up...don't they have 375 hp pre 2005? 75 horsies are more than enough to overcome the weight difference.

On average you get about a tenth per 100lbs, if the Goat weighs in at almost 500lbs heavier, well you get the idea, half a second due to weight all things being equal is a significant amount.

GTO weighs 3725 empty with a manual tranny. The GTO is faster, the problem with it is that it can't come off the line very well so that is why the Mustang usually wins from a stop. From a roll the GTO is quicker. The GTO is a low 13sec car with decent traction.

for the price and power of the GTO i would expect it to put out better numbers, not to impressive 35k for the same numbers as a mustang, and i got my stang for 24k.
