Well, while I was cruising woodward today, a late 90ish Celica GTS rolled up to me, and it was actually this lame kid I graduated high school with. Anyways we pulled over and talked, and he had the typical ricer stuff, CAI, aluminum can exhaust etc.. It's a six speed and I really wanted to race him, but he said he had been ragging on it tonight, and didn't feel like racing. He said he'd call me in a couple days, don't really know if he will but whatever. I am almost positive that I'll destroy him. I have 03 GT, with a 5 spd. I have a catted x-pipe, flowmaster 40's, udp, cai, and maf. I am a pretty good driver. Am I right that I would kill him? Thanks guys.

Dude i ragged on Celicas in my old Integra GSR. They aren't anything. You got 4 more cylinder to back you up. Don't even doubt yourself. Woodward as in GA? Anyways if that boy had a turbo you'd still spank him.

Hey dr8907, is this dominic?? If not sorry, I just know a guy with that EXACT car. Anyways, I was almost positve i'd kill him, I just wasn't sure, never raced anyone. And I hate racing on the street, but I know of this secluded spot thats about a 1/4 mile so thats the ONLY place ill do it, besides the track, can't wait for the summer.

I can say personally if your not a good driver it will be close. Them things are capable of high 14's stock, and with his mods could lower the e.t. to about 14.5 to 14.8, if anybody wants to rag on me they can, but I have an 01 GT and my g/f has a Celica GTS with 6 speed and that car aint no bitch, especially from a roll. I raced a 92 Mustang GT 5.0, with exhaust and intake, from a 35mph roll and beat it by about 2 cars up to 80. So just shift good and you should be in the low 14's in the 1/4 so you should beat him, just dont take him for granted.

 

The newer models have the VVT-IL engines in em, that put out 170 to the fly, the newer ones aren't slouches, but you should be able to race em, let em get to 2nd gear - and you go and still win. my good friend had a 01 V6 stang, with some goodies on it, about as fast as a stock GT and ate one. You should have NO problem.
