launch technique?
how do u guys launch your stang when racing? I have stock rims & tires so traction is an issue, i rev it to 1.3-1.5k RPMs and dump the clutch, no wheelspin (most of the time) and shift to 2nd @ 5k RPMs and to 3rd @ 5.5K RPMs this has worked for me but i wonder if theres a better way.
Launching is pretty mush about trail and error. You have to try and find the right RPM that give you a good launch with minimal wheel spin (which you seem to have already found). Last time I was at the track I also noticed that a lot of guys would launch at a high RPM then back off the gas and then reapply it to try and regain traction if their wheels started spinning.

I don't dump the clutch, I ride/feather it out, I can get out of the hole a hell of a lot faster by doing that.

+1. I'm the same way, I'll ride out 1st gear, and im shifting outa first at about 2k rpm, or roughly 15 mph.... With 3.55s my gear ratio for 1st is too sluggish, 2nd and 3rd are my money gears :-p I'll nearly redline (6500 rpm) from 2nd to 3rd, and usually dont make it past 3rd (on the 1/4 anyway :-p)
when you get the gears your gonna have a much harder time hooking unless you get some soft tires and im not talking about cheap *** nittos. I usually launch a little above a grand and i usually shift all gears at 6 grand but then again thats with soft tires and with more mods. My third gear falls on its face like you wouldnt believe so i always try to get the 6 grand out of my strong second gear to lift the third gear. I think you have a gt so revving to 6500 is unecessary or should i say impossible. But it takes alot, alot , alot of practice....

when i had an auto i would just floor both pedals and then let go of the brake, this was in a FWD car, for a RWD i would just step on the gas a lil bit. BTW did my first burnout today.... it was very easy and really fun!!!
