Formulas and Trans Ams are all Firebirds (Firebird Formula, Firebird Trans Am), just like the SS is a type of Z28 (Z28 Super Sport).
Why did you ditch the LS1? As a 1/4 mile platform, these cars are capable of 11's with bolt-ons. Not ragging on the Stang GT at all, those are very nice too ( I like the Stang's cockpit/seating position better). Just curious.

Well, the goal of low 13's with the GT is certainly attainable. Just plan out your mods and you'll be there. Any power adders in your future or are you gonna do the N/A thing?
I got handled by a bolt-on 99-04 GT (not many bolt-ons, either) at the track.

Nice list. Those GMs can really move once they hit third gear.

I ditched the Firebird for a few reasons,
It didn't handle well in my opinion it didn't feel tight, if that makes sense i do like to drive up to the mountains and kind of un-wind every now and then, absoloutly excelent in straight lines though.
My insurance/gas prices where not very funny.
I have always loved Mustangs ever since England I always said i would get one, I had a '94 5.0 and sold it, like a muppet. Then i came across this one 7 months ago 2000 56000 miles for 10,000 I was sold, and so was my firebird.
Cheers

^Good decision. It's good to hear you have very realistic expectations for your Mustang, instead of the usual "I deliver pizzas in my mustang and it has 130k miles on it, whats the best mod to get me to beat Vipers for under $1000?"

I'm not here to try to convince people to sell their Mustangs and get F-bodies, but you listed gas and insurance premiums as a reason to get rid of your Firebird. Is the Mustang GT cheaper on gas and insurance? I'm an insurance agent and it can't be that, I know. Also, my 4-speed auto gets 22-23 mpg, manuals get better than that. Just kinda trying to get some insight into the thought processes of Mustang owners, that's why I'm here.
Also, I was considering a 2002 Mustang GT when I bought my car, just weighing the pros and cons of my final decision. I know I did good by not buying the Dodge Stratus R/T that I test drove.
