Default 1 and done.

Well I ran a new best yesterday:

1.84 60ft.
7.85@89.49 1/8
12.25@111 1/4

Was my first pass and wanted to take it easy on the launch. It was opening day and the track was still cold and traction wasn't great. Not much VHT and rubber were down yet. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to try and break into the 11's after that because as I crossed the finish line I heard a big pop then lots of loud clunking. I twisted my driveshaft into 3 seperate pieces like a paperclip. Just got home, took the tow truck 2.5 hours to come. Pretty disappointing day even though I ran faster. Time to order a chrome moly shaft! I just had that shaft built with the 1350 ends too. It had less then 300 miles on it. Guess I learned the hard way.

Nice run, sorrry about the driveshaft. It is interesting though that it failed on the top end. Did you not feel it vibrating during the run?

That is strange, I mean most of the strain on the driveshaft occurs during the launch.

That sucks...but at least now you have a excuse to replace it with a better one[sm=icon_rock.gif] Was there any other damage under the car?

ya it is strange, never seen one twist like that before. I haven't really tore into the car much, I was so bummed after it happened I had it towed home and just put it away. I will get under it this week to take a look. I have a scary feeling the tranny could have locked up. Its pretty hard to feel a vibration in my car when your spinning 6000 rpms through the finish. My engine vibrates everything. Im just thankful I didn't lose any tranny fluid when the yoke shot out and I didn't hit a wall.

yup I have one. Unfortunately it was pretty irrelevant I would of needed a driveshaft net under the car to catch all the pieces. It failed in the back first then the yoke slide out of the tranny and flew out from under the car. the back part stayed attached to the pinion and was trying to dig into the ground. Luckily it all cleared my tires and my floor is in tact.
