So there is this guy who has a 91 Supra Turbo (I'm pretty sure its a 91) and a 2001 Subaru WRX. Both vehicles are pretty much stock. He seems to think that both of his cars can take my Mustang. He says that his Supra has 250 at the wheels (I know he didnt get dynoed, he just made that number up I'm sure) and that my Mustang only has 230 at the crank. So is there any chance that his stock Supra which has less power less torque and more weight can beat me? He also has a 2001 WRX (Non STI) that he is pretty sure he can beat me in too... Last I checked those only had 225 at the crank or some crap like that. I dont doubt that he would take me off the line because its AWD, but would I be able to pull him in the quartermile? By the time I raced the WRX I would have: 4.10 Gears, Catback, O/R H pipe, K&N filter, and a tune. Any predictions as to how these races would go down?

 

the supra is faster than the wrx but only by about .4.... the wrx will definitely get u off the line but u should pull hard once u get going....the supra should just be an ok race for u but not that close...they are supposed to run like 13.8 with a good driver and with ur mods u should be a good amount faster than that

 

Its the 230HP 3600LB version.... You really think it can run a 13.8? I heard that the 320HP 2JZ Supras run mid 13's stock, not the older ones. I checked albeedigital or whatever its called and it says the 91 turbos run mid 15s. It looks like this incase you got the generations mixed up.

 

I don't know enough about those generation Supras to tell you anything for sure, but if his WRX is pretty much stock you should beat him with the mods you'll have in place.

 

My guess is that you should take them both.

I took a WRX and I have a nonPI stang so you should have no problem w/ it and your mods. Just make sure that you run for a 1/4mile. That will give you time to pull on him. D/Rs will help out a lot too w/ the launch. I really dont know much about those SUpras but I would guess that with that kind of hp, you should take him because you have more torque.

Just remember that is in stock form. If you are going to have time to mod, more than likely, they will have time to mod also. You may not be running stock cars as far as juice, or more boost.

Not sure about the single turbo Supras. I hunt for the TT's. But if 2000si chimes in he should know more.

As for the WRX, if it's not a STi, you will roast him. I used to beat them with my 03 Monte Carlo SS and it was stock. Plus if you take him up past 60-70mph, they fall flat on their face. But that's from what I have seen. I'm sure someone will disagree somewhere along the line.

 

those gen supras are teh slowness. u will have no problem. they are slow as dog****. i raced a slightly modded one in my 93 firebird formula when i had it and it wasnt much of a race.....

 

just make sure on the wrx that you race for longer than a 1/8th of a mile and you'll take him, there fast but only for about an 1/8th at least stock after that you'll embarass him

 

Yeah, I didn't think I'd have much of a problem against the Supra.... He seems to think it has 250RWHP. I know he hasnt got it dynoed and if he did it wouldnt have dynoed at 250 at the wheels...

 

i used to have a 87 single turbo supra and it was heavy as hell. yea it does have 230 crank hp so u should have him...unless hes a good driver. it really depends how he kept his supra. those cars are pretty high maintanence. but it should be a good race anyway. the wrx is a drivers race all the way but id still give it to u.
