T/A owner showing some luv
I drive a 95 T/A that I bought in 98. It's got 152000 miles and Its just as good now (or better) than it was when I bought it. I love to listen to trash talk between us guys and you guys. I personally never talk any trash. I think both cars are awesome and fun to drive. I'll race anything that wants to run with me as long as its fun and there isn't too much traffic. I've won some and lost some. Its hard to tell whats going to happen sometimes when the stangs go anywhere from 180HP to 800+HP. That's half the fun.
The other morning on my way in to work, traffic was a little heavy and I'm coming up on a couple slow cars in the right lane. I look to my left and I have about 4-5 car lengths of space and the car wasn't gaining on me. I put my signal on and move out to pass with the gas pedal going down. After I'm in the left lane, I can see a bimmer 325i gun it and bury his headlights in my back bumper. My road rage days are past me since i now have a family, so I calmly give him the brake lights while accelerating. I could tell this guy had some problem. So I dropped it into fourth and took it up to 110MPH and got the hell out of his way. I pull over and slow down only to be givin the finger several times and the guy motions like he's going to run me off the road. At this point I'm starting to get a little agitated and I calmly wave my arms and shrug my shoulders and motion for him to go, if he wants to go so bad. So he gets in front of me and hits the brakes. I know... what the hell are you posting this story in a mustang site for???? Well, just then an '05 GT flies by and pulls up next to him (at ~70 mph) and starts messing with him. I couldn't figure out if he was defending me, or if he was pissed off from another earlier episode that I didn't see. To me, it didn't matter. To see that A@$hole get a little payback was all the satisfaction I needed and just brightened my day. So the three of us went at it for about 4 miles or so. Finally we came up to a red light and the dude in the GT had his window down and was screeming at the guy. I pulled up next to him later and applauded for an awesome show. I also followed suit and gave the guy another earfull. I guess with two guys in cars that could easily blow his doors off, he finally decided to back off. Anyway, I just wanted to check in and say, sweet rides guys.... let's keep racing... Us T/A and Camaro guys are going to have to wait for GM to put out another affordable muscle car. And, no, the GTO doesn't count!

There are lots of GM guys here and as long as you are cool then this is a good place to share stories and advice from the other side of the fence.
BTW, the GTO does count. It is pretty damn respectable and the new ones will fustigate my LS1. *Puts on flame suit.*

road rage is a terrible thing
we have a good domestic relationship on this site. most of the gm guys on here are very technical and helpful

I love the technical side, too. I belong to LS1Tech and have a couple hundred posts for mostly troubleshooting. I have given and received lots of help. These site are so cool that way!

I was REALLY impressed how Ford put the retro package together with a good amount of performance. My buddy here at work has an 05 GT (black). Its a sweet ride. We'll probably hit the track together in the spring. Hopefully we get there before he throws a supercharger in there!
I much prefer this site to LS1TECH. They're much nicer and friendlier here. LS1TECH is real good for info, though.
And the GTOs a great ride, why doesn't it count? All they need from the factor are: IRS tweaking (get rid of that wheelhop), a short-throw shift kit, wider tires, and a new torque converter.

My long term plans is to drop the LS-7 in my 95 T/A. Now that would be one heck of a sleeper! I wonder if any of the drivetrain would be able to handle that!?
Personally (and yes, I'm one of the few) I like how the new GTOs look. My only problems with them are the IRS and weight (they're a bit heavy).
I don't think you'll have any problem with your current drivetrain taking it. You'll need to replace the tranny and clutch, and definitely the rearend (the 3.42s are fine--that's what the stock Z06s use). The LS7 won't, on the other hand, drop right in. You'll need frame adjustments, not to mention, the motor will set you back 13k.

I think he is saying the GTO doesn't count because it is not an affordable muscle car to most people. Very respectable in power, but I was VERY disappointed when they came out in 04 because they just appeared to be overpriced Sunfire's, with alot of potential for the motor.

My Camaro does not look mean. It just blends in with the rest of the rush hour commuters, like a Chrysler Concorde or something. The Pontiacs look way better. Everyone has their own opionion though.
And I know guys who bought '04 GTOs for $23k-24k brand new and '05's in the upper $20k's. That's pretty affordable for a 350-400 hp V8 and a beautiful and comfy interior.
