Default 00 Z28 vs 99 cobra

This is a long story...sorry ahead of timeOn my way home from work tonight I had a few good runs against a n/a 99 cobra. I was coming to a red light with traffic ahead of me when I hear this loud rev a little behind me and to the left. We slowed down and talked for a sec, I told him nice cobra and we asked each other our mods. He had some kinda intake, bassani exhaust and x-pipe...so pretty light bolt-ons like me. He also had 2 people with him so I didn't really wanna run him because it's not really fair. So I pull a cheesy move and smoke'em then take off...just to see if the stang was worth passing up my street for. He hung a little so I decided to run him and passed by my street. So he's behind me now and I make a right on sunrise and keep it around 20mph and wait for him to get next to me. We both nod and hit it, we go to around 80 and he was in my rear view mirror....maybe 3 cars back. We catch the next light and go from a dig to about 70...about the same as the first. He asks me if i'd follow him to drop his 2 friends off so his friend can get his 02 GT...that way me and the cobra can run fairly. He was a cool guy so I was like what the hell, so I followed him to drop his friends off. We BS for a couple minutes and then go looking for a side street...which took awhile. We found a semi-decent one but it was way too short, about 3/4 of a 1/8 mile(including braking distance)....hopefully that makes sense. We go from a dig again...we nod once again and hit it. I ease into the throttle so I don't burn through first...but still did a little and so did he I think. I put it to the floor when my auto shifts to 2nd and I loose traction again...by this time his front bumper is at my door. I let up a little..get traction and floor it again until the bottom of 3rd and let off because the light at the end of the road was coming up fast. His front bumper was at my rear...so I pulled about a car on him. We also agreed ahead of time to let up if someone starts to pull decently...since the road is so short and all. We both gave a thumbs up and left it at that.

It was definately the best run i've had since i bought the Z 6 months ago...and is a very clean cobra. I would have liked to run him in the 1/4 and then some...to see what the top-end is like on that cobra...and on my Z since I just put a LS6 intake manifold on. Oh and this is only my second kill story i've written so bare with me.

Great KILLS! Its always cool when you run someone and you get to know what alls done to the car.

Yeah that sounds about how it goes. He might can hang for a sec, but after that your gonna toast him. You might have wanted to race in the higer end, but he surely did not. The faster you get, the more ur gonna pull on him.

Great kill! Your car looks a tad bit like mine, lol. Have you raced your Z yet? I've raced mine a few times, but my clutch was slipping and affected my times a little.

I know the '01 and '02 LS1s have the LS6 intake, but I thought the '00s had it, too.

Both of your cars look like mine except that I still have a front plate, I would like to get a different grill though. My car is light pewter metallic, are your cars pewter or sebring silver?

Nope...only 01-02 have the ls6 manifold. I kept the egr because of ghey cali smog....so I got the slp with a egr fitting...had the hacksaw my egr tube to get it to fit though.

My car is pewter. The color is ok, but I would have liked red or black better. When I bought my Z the deal was to good to pass up. Plus pewter looks clean even when its filthy.

I like the pewter because I'm not a big fan of washing my car; it's just gonna get dirty again anyway.
My g/f has a black Camaro and it looks pretty nice when it's clean. Most cars look best in black.
