Default Car died and now it won't start.

Last night I was going on a little cruise out in the country and the car just dies. It happened about two minutes after I had got WOT, it didn't sputter or make any noises, it just died. I pulled off onto the side of the road and the car wouldn't start, it turns over just fine and I'm getting fuel but there's no spark. At first I thought the coil took a crap because I wasn't getting any spark going to the distributor, so I replaced that today and still no go. What do you think the problem could be? Thanks in advance.

Sorry I forgot to mention that I had the TFI tested yesterday and it's good. The tach needle doesn't even move when you crank it.

Are you getting spark? If you have no spark then swap in a known good distributor

I wasn't getting spark so I pulled the distributor and what do you know, the distributor gear was missing 4 teeth and chunks of others. I replaced the gear, fished out the metal shavings, changed the oil, and set the timing. She's running rough right now, but at least she's running, I suspect fouled plugs to be the cause.

Had that happen to me once in the red SVO. Car was running like a champ, on the way home from the track. I just eased on to it after turning and it just shut off. There were basically no teeth left on the distributor, almost all dust lol

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised mine wasn't worse, but it's fixed now and running great. Now I get to tear down the engine in the '65, I threw a rod on that last Mustang cruise of the year yesterday.

Jeez, I know. Plus on Monday I hit a median with the SVO while trying to avoid a deer. Now I have a busted up wheel and I still have to check out my suspension and see how it faired.

Hopefully, you didn't bend one of your control arms. You know those are a PITA to find. Good luck.
