Default JLT worth the money?

I have a bone stock 96' cobra and I'm very interested in the JLT CAI, would it effect my 1/4 ET. What other resonable priced mods should i invest in?

JLT is good. Also consider the K&N FIPK. They will not have much if any effect on 1/4mile times, and unless you are a very consistent driver you will never notice.

Least expensive way for you to gain time is probably gears. If you don't mind loosing a little gas mileage, put 4:11s on and you will probably gain .2-.3 through the quarter. (of course you will be turning around 2600 RPM at 60 MPH in 5th gear, so gears may not be practical if you go on long trips a lot).

If your car is totally stock and you don't have $4K to drop on a S/C, you can try the usual barrage of bolt ons to gain some advantage. For example: Underdrive pulleys, CAI, larger throttle body, high flow x or h pipe (w/or w/out Cats), long tube headers. I would recommend them in the order listed if you want to make a project out of the car.

1996 Cobra came with 235 HP stock (if I remember correctly) so you are probably putting down around 200-210 RWHP. You can probably get that car up to around 230-240 RWHP without cracking into the block or supercharging.

Try this website for parts: www.rpmoutlet.com/newv8m.htm
They have tons of upgrades for your car.

Ah! You are correct. The 94-95 was 240, 96-98 305. You definetely did good to move up one year!

Also, typo above, typically I think the gears would be 4:10, not 4:11 (maybe I was thinking of Chevys?)

Regardless, you should still be able to gain 30 rwhp without cracking into the block, NO2, or S/C. And in the case of your vehicle, I have heard it is not a good idea to S/C unless you plan on replacing the internals with forged parts.

I have a friend with a 98 and 4:10s and it pulls like a monster if you can ever get it to hook up. He has a few mods like I described above, but no S/C or aftermarket heads. I believe he is running 13.5-13.6 with that setup.
