hey everyone, i know this question has come up A LOT of times but i just wanted to ask for my situation. my buddy has a 95 camaro z28 and his is pretty much stock except for the cats being cut off and thats all he has done, and he is dying to race me, i have a 97 cobra and pretty much mine is stock too except for the steeda short throw and the 1 inch lowering springs, and i was just wondering if i can beat him or if i should even take him up on the race, cuz i don't want to go out there and get myself embarrassed, because i am a huge ford guy and he is a huge chevy guy, so do yall think i have a chance to beat him........thanks......

well thats good to hear, because he talks crap about the 4.6 all the time, and he goes on about how his lt1 could walk all over me, so its good to hear that i can take him

well as long as its a ltl(285hp) and i think your model cobra is 305? if this is the case you should have him but this does not garentee victory, road condtions, tire condtion ,weather, wether you have low or high gas tank etc.. and most importantly the driver all these factors will take part in a race like this, and also wether he is auto or manuel(all cobras are manuels correct?) so no1 can be sure wether you will win, i can just say that with the same condtions and pro drivers a cobra would win.

 

Yes you should be able to take him as long as you can drive your car. I have an 02 GT (260 HP) and I race my buddies 99 Z28 (LS1 w/ 305 HP) and he usually takes me by about a car length. So you (305 HP) should be able to take him (285 HP). Just be gentle onthe launc, I am guessing he is going to rip it right off the line, just let him spin all over the place and you will take him. thanks for all the info.....yea, he has a 6 speed and everytime i ride with him he always has trouble getting traction, so hopefully i will walk all over him

 

Yeah reaction time plays a big part because the cars are pretty close in performace, if he does'nt know how to get off the line then your str8. But don't expect to walk all over him those LT1'a are fraking quick, even with a novice driver. GTPCoupe all SN95 and up SVT Cobras are manuals, not sure about the old FOXes though.

 

ok i will make a correction for u guys, the 95 LT1 is said to have 275hp (not 285) but they are way underrated and they are more like 290-300hp. so its an even race, except for the fact the camaro are cooler than sn95 cobras.
