What exactly is the difference between a 99-04 GT and a 99-04 Cobra aside from the blowers?

Other than the fact that the 99,00,01 cobras didn't have blowers. And there was no 02 cobra...

well for 1 thing, GT is a 2valve single over head cam. cobra has 4valve dual over head cam. different suspention, transmition, a lot different engine, all kinds of things. only the 03/04 came with the supercharger.

Plus the engine has forged crank, pistons all the good stuff. Theres a huge difference between the two. i had an 02 GT before i got my 03 Cobra. Rides alot better and seats are more comfortable too. JMO

This is a pretty big question...

Engine wise:

First you need to divide 99-01 and the 03+ cobras into different groups. The 99 and 01 cobra were aluminum head and block. The 03 were iron block aluminum heads (correct me if I’m wrong) and supercharged.

The main difference though is the 2v in all GT vs. the 4v in all cobras.

And then all the other good stuff everyone else is saying.

And the T-56 six speed in the 03/04 cobras, beefier half shafts in the 03/04, different guage cluster (03/04 has factory boost guage), 03/04 has fully forged rods, pistons etc... just about bullit proof!! The GTs and the 99,01 cobras have powder coated rods, hypereutectic pistons and weak rods bolts! The heads on the 99-04 GTs have 2 valves per cylinder with two cams, a solid axle with normally 3.25 rearend ratios. The engines were rated at 260 rwhp and usually dyno around 225-235 rwhp stock. The cobra braking systems are also upgraded and beefier to handle the extra weight and HP. The hoods on the 99-01 cobras were different from the GTs. The 03/04 cobras had a unique heat extractor hood stock. The nose clip, sideskirts, and rear bumper cover are unique to the 03/04 cobra. The 99-01 cobra also had a different nose clip with different foglights. The bumper cover on the 99 cobra was the same as the GT. The 01 cobra rear bumper cover actually had cobra engraved in it. The 99-01 cobras were rated at 320 hp and usually dyno around 265-275 rwhp stock. These cobras had an aluminum block and aluminum heads with 4 valves per cylinder. They also had 4 cams! Even though the 99-01 cobras seem similar to the 03/04 cobras, the block (cast iron) heads, cams, etc... are all very different. The 03/04 cobras also come stock with a complete air to water to air intercooler system to keep the air charge temps down!. Hope this helps!
