Default I REALLY need some advice

What would It take to get a 99 cobra engine to put down 350-375 rwhp N/A?

I need to rebuild my GT right now, but the engine builder has a cobra engine (i believe its a 99 but im not positive) i can get for like 2000 bucks. the rebuild for the gt I was looking at was going to cost me 4500 for parts alone. Do you guys suggest doing the swap? Id like the power figures I listed above.

Would I be able to reach those numbers with basic bolt ons?

No, not with "basic" bolt ons. What's the history of the Cobra motor? mileage and such. 2g's include everything? I think you could get close, say 325 or so. That would be underdrives, full off road exhaust, CAI, tune, e-water pumps are pretty simple to install, also a Cobra motor will pick up an ~10 or so hp's when attached to a solid rear as opposed to the IRS.

That's a quick list. Been a while since I was NA.

Cool thanks for the response, yeah i guess i shouldnt have said "basic". I was thinking jlt cai (their dyno sheets show 20 rwhp on a 99 though im skeptical) and accufab tb. Ill be running a full slp exhaust (long tubes/x/catback), steeda udps and the SCT II tuner. Anyone running cams with the stock heads?

As for the engine, I dont have too much info on it yet, im going to take a look at it tomorrow morning to get more. As for the swap, im not sure how complete the engine is. What things will I need? Computer, tranny bell housing....what else?

What kind of power can these stock engines handle?

thanks

With the BBK 65mm throttle body, bbk cai, steeda udp's, slp catted x pipe, and weld in flowmasters, with a diablo tune i put down 314 hp and 315 tq. I swapped the bbk for an accufab because the bbk is junk. I am switchin the cai for a jlt and putting mac long tubes, or pro chamber and a mac cat back on it. After I get retuned I hope to be in the low 330's (I hope anyways. I think with cams you could hit 350. From what I have read you can run stage 1 cams with stock valve springs. Also swapping a cobra motor into a gt can be a pain in the a**. I just got done puttin a 01 cobra motor in a 02 gt. It is at ford now trying to figure out the wiring. If you would like to know more about it just send me a pm or you can email me at whitevenom99@yahoo.com

ok, so its an 01 motor. does that mean ill have some issues mating it to the tranny? Ive got a 99gt with a t-45 and the 01 cobras used the tr-3650 right?

Yea the flywheel is also a different size too. The 99- part of 01 GTs used a 10.5 inch flywheel and the 99- cobras use a 11 inch (I believe) You will definitely need the wiring harness for the cobra motor! The PCm parameters are totally different on a gt compared to a cobra!
